Let’s see what $100,000 a year actually looks like for a family of four.
After federal income and payroll taxes: $7,425/month
Monthly expenses:
🏠 $420K house, 7% down mortgage, property tax, insurance & PMI: $3,300
🥦 Groceries (no eating out): $1,100
🚗 Two cars payments, gas, insurance & maintenance: $1,650
🏥 Family health insurance + basic medical costs: $750
💡 Utilities, internet & phones: $500
👕 Clothing, toiletries & household basics: $300
🔧 Home maintenance: $300
Take-home: $7,425
Expenses: $7,900
They’re $475 short every month.
And before the smartasses show up, I purposely made this conservative in every possible way.
No California. No New York. No proximity to a major city. No expensive neighborhood. No luxury cars.
There’s also no eating out, no vacations, no daycare, no kids’ sports or activities, no student loans, no college savings, no entertainment budget and no serious retirement savings.
This is about as basic as I could make it.
A family making $100,000 a year is already coming up short, unless we push that to $120k a year, and we start having a tad extra money.
Make what you will of this equation, there are many ways we can take this.
Some will say easy, others will say hard.
Right but the thing they always try to find an excuse when they lose, what they gonna say now? First fight against Merab was “he injured his hand in the 1st rd” now they gonna say it was bc Japan time or he got a neck injury b4 the fight?
The thing I hate most about this result is knowing people will attack Umar and kick him while he’s down. He’s genuinely one of the quietest, humblest fighters you’ll ever meet. Keep your head up, brother. This sport has the highest highs and the lowest lows. You’ll be back
There’s a reason Ian Garry adopted a safer fight style. And that reason is Song Kenan.
Is Islam Makhachev capable of landing a sharp left hook like this at #UFC330?
I’d love to see Islam win via KO/TKO, but it’s hard to imagine tbh.
It’s crazy how one man’s injury changed the whole trajectory of the sport. If Shavkat Rakhmonov doesn’t blow his knee out, Islam doesn’t move up, Justin never becomes champion, Ilia might not have a second belt, JDM doesn’t get a championship, Ian Garry wouldn’t be fighting for a belt, and so much more. What a sport! 🤯
Islam Makhachev talks about who his next opponent could be at 170:
"I think the UFC will decide soon. We have at least 3 or 4 contenders now. Soon, probably in about 2 weeks, it will be clear who the next challenger will be.
[Ian Garry] didn't surprise me yesterday. If he surprised the UFC, then maybe he will be next.
[Shavkat] hasn't fought for over a year. A contender can't sit out for a year with injuries and then come fight for the belt. Well, if he recovers and the UFC decides he's next, why not?"

Ali Abdelaziz says Kamaru Usman is the next guy to fight Islam Makhachev
“Islam said he wants Kamaru Usman. Kamaru Usman is a very tough opponent and I represent him too and he’s not an easy night for anybody. He’s the real deal and Islam wants to fight the real deal”
