There is a beauty to grow in a curiosity about our countertransference - we hear, we see, and we feel.
What we feel and are drawn into might give us awakened deeper empathy.
Empathy —> Connection —> Beauty
🧵 For some people with an issue like insomnia, they can go to a therapist who provides CBT-I & learn the tools for addressing it & that’s it. Great! But for many, as they attempt to make the behavioral changes it will be a struggle. A real struggle. Not just adaptation to change
Depression isn't one unique disorder.
Schizophrenia isn't one unique disorder.
Bipolar disorder isn't one unique disorder.
They are all heterogeneous disorders.
The sooner we embrace this complexity, the sooner we can make progress in the mental health field.
Some days, therapy is gonna leave you feeling really rough. You’ll wonder if it’s worth it.
Talk to your therapist about it. See if anything needs to change- like pacing, timing, frequency, or treatment focus.
Post-therapy care is super important!
#MentalHealthAwarenessMonth
During #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth try one of these activities each day and share your progress with us. Taking care of your mental health is one of the most important things we can do for ourselves, and there are things we can do each day that will make a difference.
Something is better than nothing.
A 15 minute walk is better than walking zero steps.
A 10 minute workout beats no exercise.
Reading a few pages is better than not opening a book.
Be mindful of how perfectionism can prevent you from showing up.

@michelledrapkin @onlinedbtskills @CBTDBTAssocs Id be curious to hear opinions about this. I think rational mind sounds very first wave of cognitive therapy, like you have to use a process of logic to get there. Reasonable mind seems to evoke a mind state that you may get to using logic or just the info made available to you.
This is why it’s so hard to find a therapist right now - The Washington Post… #TherapistTwitter, does this article resonate with you? https://t.co/SxXKZNSPpZ
Practicing self-compassion and self-care doesn't mean you are taking it easy. It means your home base is grounded in emotional safeness, courage and kindness. With a foundation like that, you are better suited to face challenges, and deal with the stress that you face.
Trauma did NOT make you stronger.
It traumatized you, broke your heart, dysregulated your nervous system, gave you PTSD, sleepless nights, trust issues, connection difficulty, almost killed you, and stole your will to live.
YOU made + make yourself stronger…by surviving.
