@mert @JokerDegods I think avalanche doing a good job by offering rewards for performance. That way delegators looking for validators that are performant.
@mert @JokerDegods Yes you can do this. But you need to attract delegators through social media by offering 0% fee for example which doesn’t feel right. I would love run a validator node if it’s cost 20-30k with current mcap. Now it much more profitable to just become delegator.
@mert @JokerDegods Which is cheaper than amount of sol you need to have to profitability run validator on solana. I don’t like l2, scaling solution so eth is not for me. But I can’t afford a solana validator node.
@mert @JokerDegods Yes, it’s not the same. But I assume most ppl mean being validator when they’re talking about “running a node”.
Critique is still valid because basically a lot of validator nodes supported by the foundation, which is centralized entity. I wish it would cost 20-30k usd in sol.
@mert @JokerDegods Sadly he’s right about that paying for the server is a small piece. Main problem is to get enough sol to at least break even. I wanted to run solana node, but sadly you need too much sol for that. 1k sol isn’t even enough.

What are people's favourite (technical) resources on understanding @solana under the hood (short of diving into the source code)?
Spending my Sunday night brushing up on the TPU, eBPF, ed25519 etc. so maybe one day I'll understand @jump_firedancer.
Summary below:
@aseidman I hope it’s just unfunny joke. I love solana, but downtime is unacceptable for blockchain. I hope they will do better testing or at least firedancer will have higher stability.
@tokenfox1@Justin_Bons There is no reason for BTC to die until we have another decentralized blockchain. Old tech wouldn’t allow bitcoin to scale or host proper dapps, but it’s perfectly capable to perform transactions and it’s chip to do it with BTC, considering amounts that large companies operate
@Justin_Bons@CryptoZ00443776 How are they centralized now? I’m new to Algorand, and as far as I understand anyone can run relay node or you just referring to an absence of incentives to do so?
@Justin_Bons BTC will live until we have another truly decentralised cryptocurrency. ETH could be the one, but as of now it is in worst shape than many other currencies in terms of decentralisation.
