@havivrettiggur@Wikipedia It’s so bizarre that people think this kind of ancient history has *any* relevance to deciding which side is right or wrong in the present conflict.
@PolicyEngineer I thought conservative economists liked (and in fact originated) “cap and trade” policies? It’s literally using a market mechanism to price in externalities instead of using the regulatory ban hammer that lefty environmentalists prefer. What’s the issue? 🤷♂️
@scottlincicome Honestly, my biggest takeaway is just the raw numbers. How are people only spending 63 hrs/wk on their job, school, household, and family duties *combined*?! Thats only 9 hrs/day, leaving 15 hrs/day for sleep & free time. Who the hell gets 15 hrs/day to themselves??
@MiriVinni Counterpoint: Writing that melodramatic turd of an essay about being bullied in grade school & junior high is what finally got me over it…by making me realize that the self-pitying forever-victim it described was absolutely not who I wanted to be or how I wanted to define myself
@WardCharle74047 He has a 1st amendment right to film in public. He does not have a first amendment right to shout antagonistic things at anyone who objects in an effort to provoke a confrontation. Can and should be busted for that behavior, but not for the filming itself.
@cremieuxrecueil Any reason to suspect this might be correlated with an increase in dementia like statins supposedly are?*
*At least according to a somewhat contrarian doctor friend of mine.
@jt_kerwin I really, really want to ask all these academics defending blind cites what the penalty would be if an undergrad student in one of their classes (or at their university) was caught citing sources they never read or even confirmed in a term paper.
@stanislavfort Those are all claims that the author is making about the source, so if they haven’t done sufficient diligence on a source to support such claims, they should not cite it in the first place. Simple as that.
@zdeborova@eiszett That’s literally the purpose of a citation, though. It’s the author representing that their own claims are based on or supported by the cited work. If the author never even read that cited work, they are making a false representation (i.e., lying).
@sunderedseas@Faziimoto@WarhorseStudios Seems like using AI for the kind of “rough sketch” concept art & storyboarding that’s mainly used to communicate ideas among the production team would save a ton of development time & cost w/o really sacrificing human input. Technically still “art design” I guess but seems fine.
@Timodc Cool so I guess Trump thinks he can sidestep the whole “can Presidents pardon themselves?” Constitutional question by just directing the DOJ to enter into an immunity deal with him.
