105,545 #Guelph residents have already received 1 dose of the vaccine, which accounts for 83.6% of the eligible population. If an additional 8,125 residents get vaccinated, we’d reach 90% and would be one of the most vaccinated cities in North America. 👏
It ONLY took a month of agitating on behalf of ALL of my older patients, but...
THANK YOU to Health Minister Christine Elliot for re-prioritizing 600,000 older Ontarians 80+ to get our forthcoming vaccines instead of having to wait until April.
This WILL Save Lives.
Sadly the full story on congregate settings across Ontario is even worse. According to today’s Situation Report in addition to the 49 LTC Homes in Outbreak noted below, we have 31 Retirement Homes, and 15 Group Homes, and 5 Shelters in outbreak too. We have a lot of work to do.
@GAWHeckman @Thomsod Thank you for sharing my Thesis @GAWHeckman . I am passionate about this topic and hope to contribute to the conversation on family caregivers and their huge value to our society.
Why are we so focused on finding alternative places to warehouse older Canadians? With more spending on home care we could help many of them return + stay in their own homes + save a few billion in infrastructure costs along the way. @KaHowlett explores: https://t.co/VvkR5X4e2A
How many more stories of resident harm will it take for @fordnation, @celliottability and @DrFullertonMPP to liberate these "pandemic prisons" and let essential family caregivers back into Ontario nursing homes?

Ottawa has a chance to champion reforms to long-term care. The feds must act decisively to build on what's already laid out in the Canada Health Act, say @wgtholl, @interRAI_Hirdes and Paul Hébert. @uMontreal_news @UWSPHHS @CHLNet1 #CdnPoli#CdnHealth#LTC https://t.co/8vL50w2Pb3
Its sad that it took @CIHI_ICIS's @RyersonNIA supported report showing how Canada's poorly staffed + supported #LTC Homes, has placed its #COVID-19 LTC death rates 1st overall + 2x the OECD average to finally get us to consider fixing LTC as a nation. https://t.co/Q3wa5xKrsq
NEW: How does Canada’s #COVID19 death rate in #LongTermCare compare with other OECD countries? Find the answer in our new analysis. https://t.co/Ci6JMyt7hg
Husband and wife admitted to hospital a few days ago with CoVid-19. They died in the same room last night 3 minutes apart. This pandemic is only over for people who don't survive it #PatienceNeeded#StayAwareStayAlive
This might not be the first thing you wanted to read this morning #Guelph, but I want it to be so you can take the time to understand the struggles people are facing in our community!
