Quick 10 minute traffic count smashed 100 vehicles on Sherrard Rd. Just over 10 a minute on average, or 1 every 6 seconds. 🐀

Another accident on Sherrard Rd. Likely will go unreported but the damaged cars are clear to see along with the drivers arguing. Should residential streets be accident hot spots? 🤔 How many more "accidents" until our streets are made fit for living with the simplest of changes?

How depressing is it that we buy baby on board signs as a way of explaining to other drivers why we're driving safely and as a plea for others around us to do the same? It's that out of the ordinary 🚗🚐🚕🚙🚛🛵💨

It's been a while since I've done this, but decided to do a short traffic count. High St North and Romford rd are very quiet, but I just counted over 100 cars in 10 minutes on our residential side st of Sherrard Rd. It's 10.30pm 😔 *continues to wear noise cancelling headphones*

Rush hour on Romford Rd, Manor Park this morning. Looking exceptionally peaceful compared to the queue of traffic at the end of Sherrard Rd this morning. Some people believe these arterial roads will be severely impacted if we closed off rat runs 🙈 #LiveableStreets #Newham

Despite the almost deserted main road, when vehicles are around having them on main roads allows flow to be controlled, reducing bottle necks & choke points. Newham is currently a traffic Wild West where artic trucks navigate narrow residential side streets alongside kids playing

This is every day, all evening on Shrewsbury Road. I hope ⁦@NewhamLondon⁩’s consultation on rat running in this area tackles this road too. The taste of pollution is horrible and the choking sensation it brings on frightening. ⁦@RatRunningSSSHM⁩

@Casmandu @SitesOfNewham No doubt! I feel for you. All of Newham is set up for cut through traffic and this area is particularly bad. Happy to meet up if you like and I can share my “journey” so far. Definitely good to coordinate as well - we need resident support and a demand for changes.

Decided to do a traffic count 7pm to 7.30pm. Oddly, this is past the cut off time used for traffic data analysis by Newham of the cell. It’s also half term, which is quieter.

137 vehicles over 30 minutes.
