Britain once ruled nearly a quarter of the world's population.
America shaped the global order for the last 80 years.
China is challenging that order today.
What did all three have in common?
Factories.
Before Britain had an empire, it had the Industrial Revolution.
Before America had the dollar, it had the world's largest manufacturing base.
Before China had the Belt and Road Initiative, it became the factory of the world.
History is clear:
No country has become a superpower by selling PowerPoints to each other.
Superpowers make things.
- Steel
- Ships
- Machines
- Cars
- Semiconductors
If India wants to become a superpower, we need more people building factories, not just startups.
14 years back, when I had some savings, I had two options:
1. My senior colleagues (popular neurologists in Chennai and Hyderabad) advised me to invest in own private clinic, which would increase the number of patients and thus revenue.
2. My wish: To own a farm, where we would grow fruits and vegetables; and can spend some time during weekends.
I chose the second option.
14 years later, I am happy with my decision. (1/4)
🔸I agree my patient numbers did not go up (it was intentional). I wanted to have work-life balance, and have optimum time for family, exercise, good sleep and my hobbies.
🔸Income from my profession did not go up, however, it was more than compensated by my investments in equity (which I started about 11 years ago).
My advice to juniors:
✅Do what your heart tells you to; and what you enjoy.
✅Work hard but there is no point working >8 hours a day on a regular basis (except for emergencies).
✅Invest wisely to reduce pressure (of earning) from your profession.
(Note: I have shared about my own decisions and what I enjoy. Everyone is free to make their own choices).

I am a CA.
I became a CFO.
Then a CEO.
Then a full-time investor.
Then an entrepreneur.
Most CAs stop at the first step and call it a career.
The CA degree is not a destination.
It is a launchpad. Treat it like one.

There is so much happening around the World. Nothing to cheer about.
Best thing to do is focus on doing right things.
Wake up. Work out. Get 10000 steps. Work to the best of your ability. Treat people around you well. Repeat.
Rest will fall in place.
Ok, so for anyone who's upset about the @SarvamAI models not beating GPT5/other 1T parameter models, my response: are you f kidding me? A year ago you were crying about India not having our own LLMs trained from scratch. The team has launched 14 amazing products in 14 days and it took years of work, each. And they span text, OCR, voice, LLMs, STT, hardware! I mean hardware! Edge models! Celebrate. They are just getting started. Sure, I am biased as their first investor, but we invested because we thought so highly of them. Of course we are biased. And the odds were enormous. But the opportunity is enormous-er :-) and these guys are absolute killers, and the team hunts! I haven't chatted with @pratykumar today but I heard someone say he saw that PPT for today's LLM launch session literally ON THE STAGE for the first time and laid it all out without a prompter. You can only do it when you know your material cold, and your heart is 100% living and breathing this stuff. Just incredible, congrats to everyone at @SarvamAI. Start of an era.
@saketh1998 Curious Question - Why would anyone sell at insanely less valuation just before IPO? Are these ESOPs/warrants issued in earlier years that were bought with loan?
@RajStockWatch@viveksingh2010 Sir one question on Capex. I don't see the capex growth in Balance sheet of Sunita tools. not even CWIP. I understand setting up a 155MM has huge capex involved. Whats your understanding on this?
