Everyone counts $IONQ's qubits. Almost nobody noticed this. #quantum
In January, IonQ acquired Seed Innovations — a software and AI team that built systems for U.S. defense and intelligence agencies.
Its job now: the software layer that runs and scales IonQ's quantum computers.
Powerful hardware is dead weight without the software to operate it.
IonQ is quietly assembling that layer while the market only counts qubits.

In May, Capella launched a product built to be "compatible with third-party InSAR analytics workflows."
This week, the third party has a name.
3vGeomatics is now a reseller of Capella Space imagery.
Start with what @capellaspace is. An @IonQ_Inc company since 2025. In May it launched commercial taskable InSAR: ground deformation the company describes as millimetre-scale, a 3-day repeat cycle, ordered from a console.
Raw SAR is a picture. InSAR is the measurement, how much the ground moved. That is the layer mines, dams and pipelines actually buy.
Now the partner. 3vGeomatics has done nothing but InSAR since 2007. Vancouver, thousands of reports a year, 40+ countries. And it is not independent. It belongs to Orica Digital Solutions. Orica is ASX-listed, 150 years old, and paid CAD$505M in 2024 for the monitoring group 3vGeomatics sits inside.
So IonQ's satellite imagery just reached the customer base of a company that size.
This did not come from nowhere. The two validated Capella's SAR for displacement work in a paper at IGARSS 2025, using Capella's mid-inclination orbits. The reseller deal is that research turning into a sales line.
The pattern is the one to watch across IonQ. Buy the asset. Ship the commercial product. Sign the distributor. Capella is running that playbook in space, one quarter at a time.
Nobody is talking about quantum here. That is the point. It already sells without it.
And almost nobody is counting the space arm. Capella selling InSAR, Skyloom on the SDA satellites, Vector Atomic in orbit. This whole side of IonQ still gets left out of the story people tell about the company.
If you think it is being overlooked too, share it.

@gulVasikova IONQ is being very strategic and forward looking having such a large contingent of interns. It will be interesting to see how many of this crop of students is working for IONQ in the future.
Computing has evolved steadily over the last several decades, but quantum represents a bigger shift in how we process information and understand complex systems. At IonQ, we’re proud to continue pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with quantum.

IonQ is quietly laying the groundwork for what could be the quantum computing equivalent of ARPANET—a foundational leap that could redefine the tech landscape. Much like how ARPANET set the stage for the modern internet, IonQ's patents, intellectual property, strategic acquisitions, and government contracts are all converging to create a quantum network that will be a game-changer for cloud computing, cybersecurity, and next-gen AI applications.
The company's deep patent portfolio in ion-trap quantum computing, error correction, and quantum networking is the secret sauce here. These are laying the bricks for a scalable, modular quantum infrastructure. This is reminiscent of the early days of ARPANET when packet-switching technology revolutionized digital communication. IonQ's modular approach suggests a future where quantum computers are not just standalone systems but interconnected nodes in a much larger network.
Then there's the Qubitekk acquisition—a stroke of genius. Qubitekk's expertise in entangled photon technology is a critical puzzle piece in the race to build a quantum internet. This is where the security moat gets even deeper. By integrating quantum key distribution (QKD) and entanglement swapping into its stack, IonQ is moving toward ultra-secure data transfer—something that classical encryption simply can't match. This acquisition looks a lot like the kind of strategic M&A moves we've seen in the past that define entire tech eras.
The $54.5 million Air Force Research Lab (AFRL) contract is yet another validation point. This is Uncle Sam betting on IonQ to help build out quantum networking capabilities, which has massive implications for national security, secure battlefield communications, and encrypted cloud-based quantum computing. If this feels like history repeating itself, it should—DARPA's funding of ARPANET was the first step in what became the internet. I see strong parallels here.
And let's not forget the Applied Research Laboratory for Intelligence and Security's (ARLIS) blind computing contract. This is where things get really interesting. Blind computing ensures that quantum computations can be performed without revealing sensitive data to the host—meaningfully accelerating the path to distributed, cloud-based quantum services. This is a concept that mirrors the early ARPANET vision of time-sharing computing across multiple nodes, eventually morphing into the modern cloud era.
When you put all the pieces together, it's clear that IonQ is architecting something much bigger than just standalone quantum computers. The company is quietly but aggressively building the backbone of a quantum internet, with scalable ion-trap processors as network nodes, Qubitekk's entanglement technology enabling secure quantum communication, and government funding fueling the development cycle.
For investors looking at the long-term picture, this is the kind of strategic move that doesn't just build a company—it builds an industry. Just as ARPANET's early days set the stage for the internet economy, IonQ's current trajectory suggests it's not just playing in the quantum computing race—it's defining the entire future of quantum networking. Buckle up.

$IONQ Peter Chapman sets the record straight after irresponsible comments from $NVDA CEO earlier this week. DA Davidson analyst said, post Huang comments, that Quantum is "existential threat" to $NVDA.
“Quantum is defining the future. While IonQ is already delivering value, we believe that by 2030, the company will be profitable, with sales approaching $1 billion.” - Peter Chapman, Chairman, President & CEO of IonQ.
