1971 Ray Elder was the FIRST driver to win a Winston Cup race (Winston started sponsoring NASCAR in 71 & Riverside was the 1st race of the season) @DaleJr@kylepetty@markmartin@mikejoy500@NASCARHall
Ray Elder 69 Dodge Daytona With original Petty 426 Hemi. My dad & brother stated the restoration over 20 years ago (both have passed) we are getting completed!! @DaleJr@6matthewmartin@kylepetty@mikejoy500@NASCARHall
Ray Elder’s plaque for winning his 6th WINSTON WEST GRAND NATIONAL Championship no where does it say ARCA. He did not race in the ARCA series, back in the 70’s it was Winston West series. Big difference @DaleJr@NASCARHall@markmartin@kylepetty@DirtyMoMedia
@kylepetty@KPCharityRide Great story. Love what you’re doing, such an amazing thing. Trying to figure out if I can bring my mom to see you & your dad in CA!! Safe travels to all involved.
Six NASCAR West Titles.
47 NASCAR West wins.
Ray Elder helped pave the way for NASCAR to expand to the West Coast. Should he be voted into the NASCAR HOF Class of 2027?
Fun Fact:
Ray Elder’s crew members were all volunteer!
90% of them were farmers by day & worked in shop on car every evening.
That’s how the received the name “The Racing Farmers”@DaleJr@NASCARHall@markmartin@kylepetty
RIP Timm Crabtree
Timm was Ray Elder’s 1 & only engine builder. He built all of Ray’s engines. He along with ALL other crew members VOLUNTEERED their time. They all had day jobs & worked on race car in the evenings. @DaleJr@NASCARHall@kylepetty
Thank you to all that made this happen!! We are so excited to see dad on the ballot. Congrats to everyone on the ballot, all are so deserving of being voted in. @DaleJr@NASCARHall@kylepetty
