FYI Zvezda crack repair. The location of the aft transfer tunnel is at the back of Zvezda. It is used by Progress cargo craft for docking and transfer of cargo.

60 years ago today, Gene Cernan became the third person, and second American, to walk in space on the Gemini IX-A mission. In this blog, one of our space history curators recounts Cernan’s harrowing and nearly disastrous spacewalk: https://t.co/qlE4CDhLwt
One of the coolest things I’ve learned at Normandy is about Lt. Col. Robert “Bull” Wolverton, commander of 3rd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division, who said to his men before their jump 🪂:
Men, I am not a religious man and I don't know your feelings in this matter, but I am going to ask you to pray with me for the success of the mission before us.
And while we pray, let us get on our knees and not look down but up with faces raised to the sky so that we can see God and ask his blessing in what we are about to do.
God almighty, in a few short hours we will be in battle with the enemy.
We do not join the battle afraid.
We do not ask favors or indulgence but ask that, if You will, use us as your instrument for the right and an aid in returning peace to the world.
We do not know or seek what our fate will be.
We ask only this, that if die we must, that we die as men would die, without complaining, without pleading and safe in the feeling that we have done our best for what we believed was right.
Oh Lord, protect our loved ones and be near us in the fire ahead and with us now as we pray to you.

at 10 seconds in on the video below there is a great view of the Trident aerospike, first introduced on the C-4.
The spike was a critical aerodynamic innovation that allowed the missile to fit in a Poseidon tubes while achieving greater range and payload capacity. It allowed the SLBM to have a much more blunt nose cone without suffering the drag penalty associated with that shape by creating a detached bow shock ahead of the missile body, creating a low-pressure zone that shields the blunt nose from high-speed airflow.
I’ll bet none of you knew about the jet ski, because you don’t pay attention to the safety briefing or actually look at the safety cards.
I see you. Do better.
My Uncle passed away earlier this week. He was a Purple Heart recipient, a Vietnam Veteran, and a member of the elite Navy Seawolves. He followed me on here, and so, in honor of him, I put together these badass clips from the archives of the Seawolves HA(L)-3. R.I.P. Uncle Jim.🫡
Better together! 🛩️ 🛩️
186 vintage aircraft were seen together at the Midwest Antique Airplane Club’s (MAAC) Grassroots Fly-In 2025 in Brodhead, Wisconsin. Brodhead Airport’s all-grass runways were the perfect backdrop for capturing these beautiful airplanes.
Check out our collection of photos from the MAAC Grassroots Fly-In in the May/June 2026 edition of Vintage Airplane magazine.

My childhood had the highest of highs and the lowest of lows, including time in a foster home. But I know my parents did the best they could based on their own childhood experiences.
My mother was a brilliant screenwriter and a functional addict, something that was common in Laurel Canyon in the 60s and 70s. My father went from being a farm boy, born and raised in the South, to becoming an executive. Both were the first in their families to go to college and eventually earn doctorates. Both were driven, each for their own reasons.
I took the best from them, forgave the worst, and learned the lessons.
I had a son, adopted two more, and raised a bonus son who followed me into the USAF. I gave them every minute I could when I wasn’t deployed because, at the end of the day, the only thing your children really want is you. Your presence. Your time. Your love.
We built memories together, stacking them one by one. I showed them the things I loved in life and surrounded them with good men and women so they could draw from their wisdom too. I taught them to be a team and showed them that faith makes the impossible possible.
On Fridays, we would have king crab legs. We’d cover the huge square coffee table with newspaper over a layer of towels, sit on the floor, and eat pounds of crab meat. My sons looked forward to it all week. Happily eating like a bunch of barbarians, fingers soaked in melted butter as they laughed and talked about the week that had just passed.
Decades have gone by. I have fifteen grandchildren now. My home is filled with laughter and chaos when they visit. I watch them play from my patio and smile as I hear their fathers tell their children stories from their own childhoods. The crab dinners always come up.
I honestly couldn’t ask for anything more.
The years go by faster than you think. The memories stay.
Good morning.
Today should be Richard Best Day. Piloting a Dautless dive bomber, he sank two japanese carriers in battle of Midway.
He led his squadron in the attack despite an oxygen system malunction that burned his lungs and permanently disabled him. Hall of Fame American Hero. Unbeatable.
The aviation industry’s engine shortage has become so severe that nearly 900 aircraft are now sitting on the ground worldwide.
Speaking this week, United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby said between 800 and 900 jets have been grounded because airlines cannot get enough engines and spare parts to keep them flying.
Even more concerning, Kirby warned the problem could continue for “many, many years.”
The biggest impact is coming from Pratt & Whitney’s GTF engine family, which powers hundreds of Airbus A220s, A320neos and Embraer E2 jets. Industry data previously showed around 835 GTF-powered aircraft were already in storage worldwide.
The shortage has become so extreme that some airlines have begun removing engines from relatively young aircraft to keep other jets operational.
For airlines desperate for capacity, the engine has become more valuable than the airplane attached to it.

The NTSB report on the 767 that hit the light pole confirms that the aircraft did not hit the truck, just the light pole.
The captain was hand flying using the PAPI aiming for 1 white and 3 red?
You can see they were high and got low.
Here is Building 65 (USS Enterprise CVAN-65) early in her career with A-1 Skyraiders aboard, and to have the Mach 2+ Vigilante operating off the carrier at the same time. What a contrast in speed. #a1skyraider#ussenterprise#cvn65#boneyardsafari#navalsafari

The Battle of Midway began on this day in 1942. The course of World War II was dramatically altered when Douglas SBD Dauntless aircraft destroyed four Japanese carriers.
Perhaps I’m old fashioned and an old war dog, but I would much rather know the state of our ammunition stockpiles, air defenses, logistics network, and industrial base than spend one minute of my time debating where to park another nuclear weapon.
The things that worry me are the things nobody wants to talk about. Do we have enough munitions? Can we sustain a prolonged conflict? Can our industrial base replace what we expend? Can we move forces and supplies where they need to be when they need to be there?
Those questions are not nearly as sexy as rattling the nuclear saber, but they are a lot more important.
US may consider placing nukes in Poland, Baltic States, report says https://t.co/rdWlkEH5TG
22 yrs ago today, after a long zoning dispute with local officials that ruined his business, welder Marvin Heemeyer had enough & created the Killdozer.
He destroyed the mayor’s house, the judge’s house, town hall, the police station, & the bank - while avoiding hurting civilians or their property.
Happy Killdozer Day to those who celebrate 🎊
