This past year was my 11th and final year covering for @MSHeartland_ as well as my last year at Ignatius.
Before moving down south, I just wanted to express gratitude I had for many individuals in this space in this letter.
Thank you all.

The distance performances at this IHSA girls meet is unprecedented and the first thought I had as Mia Sirois crosses the line to win the 3200 in 9:44 was “I wish Mike Newman was here to see this.”
@pntrack Truth be told I’m speculating but yes. Those events have massive PRs in those events especially for entrants in the outermost lanes.
The 400 is the most egregious one.

@pntrack Would be curious for your feedback on reformatting scoring like this.
One issue in Illinois is that the concept of a “team” is ditched when sectionals begin. XC already has a blueprint track can follow so now scheduling changes are necessary.

Extremely doable. In order to score at state teams have to meet baseline criteria. No more Cole Hendersons or Champaign Centennials winning a trophy. Teams with depth are rewarded. Prelims matter more. And best of all, very little actually changes.
