#FightGenocideIdeology
Monitoring social media used to spread state-sponsored divisionism, denial, minimization, trivialization of genocide & genocide ideology
Genocide starts with words! Words that divide into "us"/"them", words that create symbolic groups of uniform "others", words that dehumanize. Please help me document how social media is used to promote divisionism & genocide ideology in Rwanda. Use the tag #FightGenocideIdeology
Im documenting this whitewashing campaign in western media, so that it can one day be used as evidence in a trial of RPF crimes. Here,
@LaurentLarcher
spreading fake news (UN does support the report) and engaging in denial of documented war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Im documenting this ethnic polarization campaign by paid RPF trolls and sycophants, in the hope that it can one day be used as evidence in a trial of RPF crimes. Here, a troll managed from the president's office uses divisionist language in blatant violation of Rwandan law.
@michelawrong You would have reacted on the story about you in @NewTimesRwanda rather than spending your time criticising a photo! You invited yourself in a game that you'll never win. Rwanda is untouchable, Tutsi blood are protected! You'll regret Pointing your finger to Rwanda
I am documenting this systematic PR campaign in western media to one day use as evidence in a trial of RPF crimes. Here, @mariamalagardis , who has never once acknowledged RPF crimes, writing an infomertial for Kagame, presenting the war criminal tyrant as a humane father figure.
Im documenting the systematic PR campaign by western academics in the hope that it can one day be used as evidence in a trial of RPF crimes. Here @philclark79 dismissing without evidence credible allegations of torrure rather than calling for an investigation into alleged crimes.
Journalists reporting #Rusesabagina's family unchallenged: Why has their story changed (first he was bound, drugged onto flight in Dubai, which court debunked, then claimed this occurred on tarmac in Kigali)? Why have they waited 300 days to allege torture & solitary confinement?
I am documenting this ethnic polarization campaign by paid trolls and sycophants, to one day use in a trial of RPF crimes. Here, @RubenGregor1 engaging in illegal divisionism by equating RPF criticism with Hutu Power. Stage 4: classification. #FightGenocideIdeology
@philclark79@rwandan_oracle Noise-making has become a hobby of this old Hutu Power supporter,an all time friend of the genocidaires like Col Bagosora and Hassan Ngeze
@JonathanSaid1 @somefancyhandle @freyntje@philclark79@lindamelvern Why 60? Did Rwanda not exist before the Belgians? Rwanda has a proud 1000 year old history with institutional continuity before and after colonization. It is not defined by its colonizers. It is not aiming to become UK and it is not 460 years "behind". #ColonialMentality
@JonathanSaid1 @somefancyhandle @freyntje@philclark79@lindamelvern So it is option 2 then: Rwanda is a backward primitive country that cannot be held to the same human rights standards as the UK. Thanks for being clear at least. And fully consistent with your condescending instruction to read development history.
@JonathanSaid1 @somefancyhandle @freyntje@philclark79 Rewarding Kagame with CHOGM is the opposite of "leaving someone to chart its own path"! It is using a colonial institution to support a dictator who would not be in power were it not for the $$ of a colonial master.
@JonathanSaid1 @somefancyhandle @freyntje@philclark79@lindamelvern So you should know that human rights are indivisible and inalienable, which means that no amounts of food or kids n school can justify torturing someone. So GDP and school enrollment are 100% irrelevant to this discussion.
@JonathanSaid1 @somefancyhandle @freyntje@philclark79@lindamelvern So why do you bring up kids in school when we're talking about war crimes and extra-judicial killings? Or is your point that Rwanda is so backward that it can't be expected to respect human rights?! If so, that's a racist argument, and this discussion is over.
@JonathanSaid1 @somefancyhandle @freyntje@philclark79 How many children in school does it take to justify ripping out someones nails with pliers or raping a child in front of his parents?
You are just whitewashing indefensible human rights atrocities, just like @philclark79 and @lindamelvern .
@JonathanSaid1 @somefancyhandle @freyntje@philclark79 You're mixing two unrelated subjects and in so doing, trivializing and minimizing crimes against humanity, war crimes and worse that are in no way comparable to the shortcomings of the UK today, which is a functioning democracy with free press and independent courts.
@JonathanSaid1 @somefancyhandle @freyntje@philclark79 CHOGM is the most imperialist colonial institution there is! Proof that the UK is still exerting its power to promote human rights violations abroad, for instance in Rwanda! Rwanda hosting CHOGM is the perpetuation of this legacy, not a step away from it!
Here, @philclark79 minimizing RPFs systematic state-sponsored crimes against humanity, by suggesting that they are no worse than the few bad apples found in the Australian army. Cases that were revealed by Australias free press, and judged in Australia's independent courts!
@Rwandankunda@JonathanSaid1@freyntje Australia's atrocities at home & abroad are vile & ongoing. War crimes investigations in Afghanistan will show even more. This was all known in 2011 but no one said take CHOGM off Perth. Hardly surprising colonial notions of who's beyond the pale run deep in the Commonwealth.
@JonathanSaid1 @somefancyhandle @freyntje@philclark79 And also, two wrongs do not make a right. The fact that Egypt had slaves 4000 years ago does not make slavery alright! And Leopold does not make Kagame alright...
@JonathanSaid1 @somefancyhandle @freyntje@philclark79 Totally valid point...if we were considering whether to host CHOGM21 in the UK 200 YEARS AGO!
proposal is to host it in Rwanda in 2021, so it's Rwanda's human rights record in 2021 that counts!
Im documenting this whitewashing campaign by RPF enablers and supporters, so that they can one day be held to account. Here, @philclark79 suggesting that Rwandas human rights violations are no worse than those of Australia, a functioning democracy with free press and rule of law.
And which blameless member of the Commonwealth would you propose as #Rwanda's replacement? I don't recall the outcry when Perth hosted CHOGM in 2011 while Australia was locking up asylum seekers on Pacific islands & indigenous inmates were dying daily in cells across the country.
Instrumentalizing the suffering of genocide victims to deflect criticism of human rights abuses committed in their name by those who knowingly exposed them to danger by shooting down the plane, trivializes genocide and sullies their memory. It is a form of genocide denial!
I am documenting this ethnic polarization campaign by RPF trolls and sycophants, so that it can be used in a trial of RPF crimes. Here, @aysesila1975 implying that anyone who criticizes RPF is a Hutu genocidaire. Stage 2 of genocide: symbolization. #FightGenocideIdeology
@lindamelvern You forget to mention that it was Kagame who asked him to block the resolution asking for additional troops and that he even threatened to shoot any peacekeepers they sent...
