@dwannadi chinese education system is very depressing, starting from elementary school. i remembered the whole class being held by teacher until 6PM+, just to do pointless exam papers. many students were breaking down.
@zahid_pichen@SanderSkjegstad@meowkoteeq the idea is to stop fiddling with the tools, but start focusing on the craft of programming itself. As the craft is expressed in text, so any text editor should work.
@SanderSkjegstad@meowkoteeq yes!
i stopped using IDEs and switched to emacs about 2 years ago, right when LLMs are getting popular. Best decision ever.
@DalitDetector Aside from search index, google probably still has the best non-LLM, "symbolic" knowledge base (their equivalent of wikibase, but larger). It is unclear how that would surface in their products. To be seen at the other side of the current hype cycle.
@valigo So the internet allows high trust society to interact with low trust society without limit. Clankers speed up the potential impact/damage. Does it mean high trust society will degrade into low trust or low trust will grow into high trust? let's see, but i am pessimistic.
@nicbarkeragain imagine one day some one decides tokens are so cheap, we don't need UI layout libraries, we can just ask LLMs to generate the UI every frame.π
@nicbarkeragain Thank you for putting it eloquently. Most problem domains don't (shouldn't) involve autonomously answering open-ended queries at high speed, which means LLMs are overkill solutions under most circumstances.
@nicbarkeragain and the real "google-scale" companies, will have to build and own their own stack anyway.
so these solutions / frameworks exist as to force more developers onto a platform, which then sells more services.
@nicbarkeragain it's the same cycle again and again in the software industry. "evangelists" will say you need frameworks, this CI/CD, build systems, containers, microservices, kubernetes, because that's what google is using!
whereas most business don't need that, ....
