Many infections are treated with #antibiotics:
Bacterial pneumonia
Bloodstream infections
Intra-abdominal infections
Urinary tract infections
Typhoid fever
Skin infections
Meningitis
Tuberculosis
Severe diarrhea
Cardiac infections
Bone and joint infections
Gonorrhea
Streptococcal sore throat
Lyme disease
Chlamydia
and many more....
This in turn also make antibiotics crucial for conditions or situation where you are especially vulnerable to infections such as at childbirth, cancer treatment, surgery, organ transplantation.
We need to act on #AntibioticResistance now, for a world free from untreatable infections.

JUST RELEASED: ReAct Policy Brief!
FROM DIALOGUE TO PROGRESS: EVOLVING THE ROLE OF MINISTERIAL MEETINGS ON AMR
While global AMR governance has expanded in recent years, the current system remains fragmented — with unclear mandates, persistent funding shortages, and significant accountability gaps.
Ahead of the fifth Global High-Level Ministerial Conference on AMR in Abuja, ReAct’s latest policy brief examines the growing role of the ministerial meeting mechanism within global AMR governance.
The brief explores:
- how the mechanism has evolved
- what previous meetings have delivered and
- how it can be further institutionalized to strengthen accountability, continuity, and coordinated international action on AMR.

Youth, World Health Assembly #WHA79 and Global Action Plan on AMR
As the next Global Action Plan on AMR is to be adopted at the World Health Assembly next week, we must ensure it works for everyone.
For youth, following this process matters.
-From WHA to communities: Policy must reach the ground level to be effective.
-Bridging the gap: Youth can help translate policy into community action.
-Meaningful impact: Real engagement helps protect the most vulnerable populations.
Meaningful youth engagement is an important part of the AMR response.

It’s #WorldHandHygieneDay!
What’s the single most effective way to prevent infections?
👉 Hand hygiene
Practicing good hand hygiene and #HandWashing helps reduce the spread of pathogens and tackle #AntibioticResistance (#AMR).
Clean hands save lives. 🙌
The importance of local leadership in addressing AMR
In the Jahangirpuri slum in New Delhi, India, we saw the power of local engagement. While campaigns build awareness, the foundation is everyday local action.
Through the React Asia Pacific Antibiotic Smart Community initiative, local women are proving
that leadership begins at home.
Here’s what we learned:
Prevention is key: Access to water, hygiene, and sanitation helps reduce antibiotic use.
Context matters: Poverty and gender roles shape how medicines are used.
Empowerment works: Local voices share knowledge.

Vaccines play a critical role in efforts to address antibiotic resistance
During World Immunization Week 2026, we reflect on how vaccines protect us throughout life.
The connection between immunization and antibiotic resistance is direct:
-Fewer infections lead to decreased need for antibiotics.
-Reduced antibiotic use leads to slower development of resistance.
Antibiotic resistance is not just about treating infections. It is about preventing them in the
first place.
This is why prevention must remain at the top of the global health agenda

AMR on the agenda at ESCMID 2026
As ESCMID Global 2026 wraps up in Munich, ReAct joined one of the key global forums shaping the future of antimicrobial resistance #AMR.
Beyond a leading scientific congress, @ESCMID continues to be an important space to exchange across disciplines, from research to policy and implementation.
What emerged clearly this year is that AMR remains high on the global agenda, but the context around it is shifting.
Earlier this week, ReAct Europe hosted colleagues from ReAct Africa Network and ITP fellows from Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) for rich discussions on AMR, stakeholder engagement, and communication.
Great to meet across regions - insightful talks and a few laughs included! 🫶
