@Banksy you must be Reading’s most popular person just now.
And thank you @JANUSZCZAK too for the fabulous articles in the @ST_Culture

@ReadingGaolHugger has been keeping a low profile since hugging and linking hands with strangers became more or less illegal.
However, the news from @Banksy has woken us up. Thank you #Banksy for your generosity. A big virtual hug from the huggers.

My letter to @RobertBuckland seeking a meeting between him, myself and @ReadingCouncil to urge his department to rethink their rejection of the fair offer made for Reading Gaol.
I am determined to protect this historic site for our local community.

@mickhumph I agree that using the site for housing is highly undesirable and that the area should help us remember some of the injustices of the past, such as Oscar Wilde’s incarceration for “gross indecency”. However, I disagree with knocking the building down.
Dear Ministry of Justice. Tonight you are sitting down to discuss the future of Reading Gaol, where Oscar Wilde was imprisoned and where Banksy painted a mural supporting the idea of an arts centre. Either that, or it becomes a block of flats. MoJ, please choose culture!!!

Been making case to @MoJGovUK over some time for a regeneration of Reading Gaol which recognises its iconic heritage & delivers a local arts and culture hub. Thanks @RobertBuckland for confirming period of exclusivity for @ReadingCouncil to develop a business case with partners!
The BBC reported that the Developer who planned to purchase #ReadingGaol (Artisan of the Isle of Man) has just withdrawn. One good thing to come out of #COVID19. Best of luck to our friends in Reading who are fighting to stop the sale of the Gaol. #OscarWilde#heritage
I am grateful to have the support of Culture Select Committee Chair @julianknight15 in our campaign to save Reading Gaol. Read his letter to the minister below.
