1. You retreat.. attempt to remove yourself from the threat.

Its a simple pattern.
1. Politician invests in business that provides widget/service.
2. Politician pronounces that part of sky is falling and widget service will prevent/slow sky from falling.
3. Politician passes law that forces public to buy widget service.
4. Politician profits while cost of living goes up for everyone.
