Immigrants arriving at Ellis Island in 1903 had to pass a doctorโs exam that checked for diseases like tuberculosis and trachoma. In 1906, 12,432 people were turned away at the door. The ones who got in brought $25 MILLION in cash with them, because they knew nobody was going to hand them anything.
There was no welfare, no food stamps, and no Medicaid. They had to actually work, or they were sent back.
Also, Back in 1903 assimilation was the goal. Congress passed a law in 1906 requiring anyone who wanted citizenship to speak English, and companies like Ford ran their own schools to teach English, safety, and American history. A Ford English School diploma even counted toward a personโs citizenship application.
Back when we were a proper country.. ๐๐
Mark your calendars folks!

Honored to spend today at Life Beyond the Diagnosis, a cholangiocarcinoma awareness luncheon in Bridgewater hosted by Rosy Thakkar, president and founder of United For Impact.
We came to honor Dr. Lanfang (Lucy) Li, a survivor who is now dedicating her life to people diagnosed with cancer, and to people who may be living with it and not know it yet.
This cancer is quiet. Symptoms often do not show until late stages, and with this diagnosis time is of the essence. There is still hope. Dr. Cataldo Doria joined us to explain histotripsy, a noninvasive, focused-ultrasound procedure he performs on patients like Lucy. Many people have never heard of it.
Also with us was SkyHope, volunteer pilots who fly patients to treatments that are not available close to home.
Thank you to the lawmakers and local leaders who showed up: Congressman Tom Kean Jr., Assemblyman Erik Peterson, Assemblyman John DiMaio, Senator Doug Steinhardt, Bridgewater Mayor Matthew Moench, Bridgewater Councilman Michael Kirsh, Councilwoman Joan Geiger, Raritan Mayor Don Tozzi, Peapack-Gladstone Councilman Conor Sweeney, Mercer GOP Chair Pat Johnson, Bridgewater BOE member Jeremy Li and Bridgewater-Raritan Board of Education candidates Inderpreet Banga and Eugene Tawiah.

@Deancain I have a theory that the lack of common sense and constant emotional outrage over extended periods of time sets them back a few years mentally, in his case, decades.
For those that support flock under this administration, what happens if (God forbid) we had this under another Biden or Obama administration?
This is why I donโt support government overreach.
๐จ #BREAKING: Federal judge rules Flock's camera network violates 4th Amendment rights, accusing the company of building an "indiscriminate mass surveillance" network.
You wouldnโt believe how many pearl clutching liberals have had the nerve to try to tell Cubans theyโre idiots for not supporting Communists.
Iโve gotten to the point where I shake my head and donโt even bother interacting.
Some people are born to be stupid.
For more than 60 years, the Cuban people have lived under communism.
At the United Nations, President Trump said freedom is coming to Cuba.
As someone who has spent my life defending the American Dream, I pray for the day when the Cuban people can freely build their own dreams too.
God bless the people of Cuba. ๐จ๐บ
@GuitarAnon17@SunTzusWar I donโt know why anyone cares what that irrelevant dude Josh or whatever his name is has to say. I muted him long ago. Heโs not even a grifter, he aspires to be one. A wannabe grifter is real bottom of the barrel.
The people of Newark and the entire state of New Jersey deserve better.
Politicians like Cory Booker have continued to get rich on our suffering and are never held accountable.
New Jersey needs to wake up and say no more.
Vote @JerseyJustinUSA November 3rd
As Mayor of Newark Cory Booker embezzled $600,000 from the City's Watershed Water Authority laundering the money through his lawfirm. Booker claimed to know nothing about the transfer, but the authority minutes showed that as an ex officio member of the board he had voted to pay his firm the funds.
If Cory Booker was a white Republican, he would have gone to jail with the staffers who were convicted for processing the payment to Booker firm
