If ever a time should come, when vain and aspiring men shall possess the highest seats in Government, our country will stand in need of its experienced patriots to prevent its ruin.
~ Samuel Adams, Founding Father (1722-1803).
We fail to love both victim and perpetrator when we think repentance involves only an apology, which then serves as a ticket back to wherever the perpetrator wants to go.
When I look at my kids, I have 2 thoughts:
1) I have never loved anything as much as I love them.
2) I have never looked forward to 8:30PM so much in my entire life.
This kid just died in the Iran conflict… and it hits hard because he’s from my city.
I know people who went to school with him.

I cosponsored this resolution and will vote with Rep Nancy Mace today. If your tax dollars were used to settle sexual harassment claims against members of Congress, you should know about it.
Look at the map. 338,000+ red dots.
Unique IP addresses trading, distributing, and sharing child sexual abuse material… children under 12.
Do you notice the blue dots? Probably not. Those are the actual investigations.
Law enforcement needs more resources, more support… a bigger rescue team.
This is a fight of good vs. evil, and we are losing.

As yet another preemptive war is begun in the Middle East, John Quincy Adam’s words of wisdom still ring true:
“Wherever the standard of freedom and Independence has been or shall be unfurled, there will her heart, her benedictions and her prayers be.”
Like most Americans I have sympathy for the plight of the Iranian people and all subjected people around the globe, from North Korea to Tibet.
But as Adam’s wrote, America: “goes not abroad, in search of monsters to destroy.
She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all.
She is the champion and vindicator only of her own.”
The Constitution conferred the power to declare or initiate war to Congress for a reason, to make war less likely.
Madison wrote that “the Executive Branch is the branch most prone to war, therefore, the Constitution, with studied care, delegated the war power to the legislature.”
As with all war, my first and purest instinct is wish Americans soldiers safety and success in their mission.
But my oath of office is to the Constitution, so with studied care, I must oppose another Presidential war.
I am opposed to this War.
This is not “America First.”
When Congress reconvenes, I will work with @RepRoKhanna to force a Congressional vote on war with Iran.
The Constitution requires a vote, and your Representative needs to be on record as opposing or supporting this war.
An abuser commonly fails to direct their repentance toward God but instead directs it toward people whose good favor the accused wishes to receive. Repentance is defined by Paul as an intensely Godward sorrow that fashions transformation (2 Cor. 7:10).
A repentant heart shows empathy for those who have been wronged and damaged by my sin; an awareness that the sin is against the goodness and holiness of God, not merely a behavioral aberration that got me in trouble. A repentant heart desires to make restitution.
Our sexualized society has abandoned moral virtue as an expectation for leaders, along with social shame, so narcissists have the hubris to run for public office even after doing terrible things, such as committing sexual offenses.
