Imagine you built your own solid house with its own generator for power and water (Railway's customer workloads on their Metal bare-metal infra). But you left the main utility meter, mailbox, and front-door security system plugged into your old landlord's building (GCP control plane). Landlord suddenly cuts you off → whole house is dark and unreachable even though the house itself is fine. That's exactly why that last GCP chunk mattered so much.
