@PorkPoncho Its just... dead. A game plan from bungie is as trustworthy as a drink from Bill Cosby. Marathon wont get closed like highguard because at the end of the day its still Bungie, but the numbers dont lie. I cant see anything breathing life into marathon enough to be worth it.
@Jordan456257099@Kruzil Deadass. I havent played since the final shape and ive easily logged a year in game between d1&2. I played every day and even when I started burning out toward the end, I followed the game through lore videos and shit.
@Arrrrash Been asking the same thing tbh. I knkw why a lot of people didnt buy it, but im curious why out of the like 90k people who did, why 75% of them have already stopped playing. Theres always a bit of people who play a game only 2-3 times. But this is a majority of the players.
@saikhouu @jeremyhopke @doodoodadi2@PorkPoncho Oh for sure. Marathon was almost entirely thrown away before launch. Even if it was a great game, the destiny community, Feeling scorned about D2 being all but left to die while Bungie cashes out on the new trendy extract thing basically ensured this game wouldn't take off.
@jeremyhopke @saikhouu@doodoodadi2@PorkPoncho Arc raiders is a cool example as well, because A. It launched at $40 like Marathon. B. It launched to almost 3x the player count. And C. It climbed pretty much the entire launch month. Even now, a consistent 100k is solid almost any time of day.
@jeremyhopke @saikhouu@doodoodadi2@PorkPoncho Arc raiders chart from month 1, for reference. Also yeah, apex is a solid example, even though it is free. It definitely lost a ton of people from launch, but still sitting at almost 200k years after is still decent.
@OnlyWaifu I feel for the guy who games 2-3x a week not wanting to play with Edward Cheetohands who never leaves his Razer gamer bucket and has 4k hours on the game. It isnt always fun playing against someone who's made dominating the game a science. Different types of fun to different ppl.
@StarshiipeR Arc raiders has the plaher experience though. You could wipe a whole lobby, or work with complete strangers to clear out an event, theres so much depth to it.
@TheStarElite@HMBohemond This. Soon as games hit 70, I have only bought 3 maybe 4 games at full price. If im even a little bit concerned about how a games doing, im looking at numbers, reviews, streams. Shits too expensive to just BUY freely anymore. If youre gonna sell em at 70, better make em worth 70.
@EndymionYT Games have gotten worse because of people like Jeff, willfully ignoring what people want to make something else entirely that we dont want or dont ask for. Then, theyre shocked when the game flops? I couldnt feel bad if I tried.
@itsdeehar@Pettan_Enjoyer@TomFromIT_45 You can 100% criticize something without experiencing it. I dont have to play generic hero shooter 420 to know that hero shooters are oversaturated af, and we dont need devs making them just to try and get a quick buck off the hype thats like 7 years too late.
@therealrthorat@JDfromNY206@DC4Teggy Well that is good to hear. Ive heard mixed things on the pacing, balance, (but thats always a battle in these types of games) and questionable UI. But, ill give it a shot myself and see for myself how I feel on it.
@therealrthorat@JDfromNY206@DC4Teggy To be fair, no, it doesnt need to be perfect at launch, but we do need to stop allowing companies to release half assed buggy messes for money, and promises to patch it up later. People have every right to be critical, especially when their flagship games suffered for this.
@Dexerto Maybe, just maybe we stop churning out games in a genre thats been oversaturated since like 2020? Theres nothing unique going on in this game. Couple that with the fact that this was the "grand finale" reveal at the gsme awards, immediately overhyped the game
