The most interesting part of this isn’t “AI can design now.” We already knew that.
It’s that designers preferred going back to Figma because determinism matters. Predictability is still the killer feature in creative tools.
NEW RESEARCH 🔬:
>5 designers ran Claude Design on a real client brief.
Claude starts strong, but then every designer eventually reached for Figma.
Claude Design is a fast first draft, not a precision tool, designers still go to Figma for that.
Claude reads visual cues, the design system, and brief together.
It then fixes logos and wordmarks. Ships hover states and scroll behaviors. (love this)
but then the layout fails.
>60% of designers flagged spacing at edit 1.
>Every designer flagged it by edit 5.
Direct edits got ignored or undone.
TLDR: Generate the skeleton in @claudeai. Set the details in @figma. (Not dead lol)
Excellent work by the Anthropic team @nateparrott@Flomerboy@callmejohnnie
Design agents on the canvas opens up so many doors for how we design and build products.
The first step is having agents that meet you where you are, and design with you.
I’m so stoked for the countless of figmates who put so much into this.
Over a year training our own models and hillclimbing on quality. Truly a labour of love.
See you in the Beta :)
We’ve mostly solved for “good enough.” Now every model is converging on the same polished, technically correct aesthetic — and it all starts feeling weirdly identical.
Humans agree on what’s broken. We don’t agree on what feels alive, distinctive, risky, or real. And that disagreement is the whole point of taste.
“Technically excellent” ≠ memorable.

I never understood how companies bloat to thousands until this support ticket with X team.
This simple support ticket has been open for 2 months, with daily checkins for the first ~30 days.

multiple escalations
no resolution
At one point, support suggested that a faster path to resolve the issue would be if we pay $10,000 USD – which we agreed – and even then, nothing happened.
We were literally trying to give X money. Support fumbled it.
If I was in X leadership, I would want to know @elonmusk@nikitabier@kcoleman
Thoughtful work on the Human Creativity Benchmark from @contralabs_ai
I especially appreciated the convergence / divergence framing against the phases of creative workflows. I think it's important to start talking about AI output with the nuances of time, audience, intent
As an industry, we're underestimating the importance of divergence as a feature in the creative process...not a bug

Something I have been watching closely
How is AI impacting the earning potential for professional creatives ?
@contralabs_ai just published research on this
it turns out, designers aren't "cooked", but instead running full Michelin star level kitchens.
