@UnderpaidWork3r@talliedar@GretaThunberg Do you not realise that climate change will disproportionately impact lower income people? So poverty will get worse unless climate change is addressed?
Climate change will impact how crops are grown and will increase food prices. Making more people hungry…
@MikeTho64595057@ParisGm1 @jonesmedcardiff @FernBrady What do you call this response to me then? You’re literally trying to force autistic people to conform to your language choice.
@MikeTho64595057@joe_sherbrooke @FernBrady Who are you to tell them how to talk about THEIR autism? I can choose to talk about being autistic or I can say I have autism. That’s my choice for my autism, not yours. Stop forcing your opinion on others and mandating they conform to you.
@TomMaynes@JujuliaGrace Just a correction, I would not have gotten my medication in Japan because they ban stimulant based medications such as Elvanse and others.
France and Canada spend more per capita on healthcare than the U.K. currently does. So you want us to spend more on healthcare for the same?
@joe_sherbrooke@MikeTho64595057 @FernBrady Understandably difficult to have their input in that scenario. I would say 80%+ of autistic people preferring identity first means I prioritise identity first over person first when writing documentation or about autistic people as a whole. But I default to individuals otherwise
@probablyalreet@MikeTho64595057 @FernBrady If you want to learn more on this it’s usually under person first vs identity first language and there’s plenty of information online if you are curious 😊
@joe_sherbrooke@MikeTho64595057 @FernBrady Then you disagree with the vast majority of autistics who prefer identity first language (myself included) maybe ask people how they prefer to be referred and respect those preferences. Over 80% of autistics prefer to be called autistics.
@SeanMagee@AndyVonWillis1@groomyd@JujuliaGrace Diversity at the point of hiring and statistics is one thing, but true inclusion is often lacking. There’s plenty of stats of discrimination within NHS workplaces. Companies often focus on increasing statistics but fail to be inclusive and turnover remains high
@versacebrain@obfuscate465@sensorystories_ They were asking how do you implement it in a system dominated by ABA. Do you have answers to that? Yelling ABA is not ok at someone who has already shown they don’t agree with it isn’t helping anyone.
@SeanMagee@AndyVonWillis1@groomyd@JujuliaGrace I don’t have specific evidence on NHS roles because that’s not an area I’m as familiar with, but DEI roles and their impact are well researched.

@TomMaynes@JujuliaGrace On the NHS I paid nothing for my diagnosis’s which would’ve cost £500-£2000 each, and I pay just £10 for my medication each month.
@TomMaynes@JujuliaGrace So explain to me how I would’ve gotten my Autism and my ADHD diagnosis without the NHS? No private medical cover in the U.K. will cover diagnosing or medication for neurodevelopmental conditions. How would privatising healthcare help me? Meds are £100+ a month at least
@JYCE97@ComposMental @FernBrady Just FYI, I know this because I’m autistic myself and involved in Neurodiversity ERGs etc (just don’t use the DSM-5 much in the U.K.) but I’m really glad you explained this for others to read if they come across this thread!
@ArtbyOkami@SWGaspar @isadwatson So this ultimately depends on the company. If not we’ll supported and the company isn’t involved they become purely social groups. When supported they work collaboratively and they are instrumental in bettering the workplace. I’m sorry you’ve had bad experiences of them.
@KinjaExPat@babbles @isadwatson Ah the response of someone who doesn’t want to listen or take on board anything positive about ERGs. Clearly I can’t change your mind.
@ComposMental @FernBrady Ah so it is the same as the “levels” then. I don’t think it’s used as much in the U.K. because many places use the ICD-11 over the DSM.
