Fun fact regarding military pensions:

The military quietly reduced retirement pension benefits from 50% to 40% for 20-year retirees under the Blended Retirement System.

Yes, there’s TSP matching now, but a guaranteed pension is far more valuable than hoping the market performs well for 20 years.

And yet, Congress is guaranteed a minimum of $174K for life.
