@hthieblot AltaVista’s Babelfish page was amazing, I think around ‘97. Travelling across Europe and translating abstracts of papers and having a vague clue what was going on at polyglot conferences. People next to me couldn’t understand where I got the translations from calling it wizardry
@MajorDuffles@RaoulGMI This phase is working, but make sure to take those lifestyle chips off the table before financial repression reduces what you can do with assets within the system (or what’s left of them when UBI has to be paid for in countries other than the US and China).
Puccini’s La fanciulla del West @operahollandpk was stunning. The triumph of forgiveness in a morally ambiguous world over the emotions of the mob. It seems invidious to single out Amanda Echalaz’s Minnie, but what the hell. Love to the whole cast and crew.
@makinsan_eth@RealVision@RaoulGMI Seeing the log chanels back then was when the penny dropped with my longer term investing, and together with Julien’s business cycle work has helped me keep my head, when all about me are losing theirs.
@AndreasSteno The student doing the evaluation recognised and saw the framing in which they were learning, improving their critical thinking skills. This is the real job of higher education, not agreeing with the lecturers (nothing is politically neutral), it to empower yourself as a learner.
@_The_Prophet__ Cartels are a good hypothesis for how states emerged, capturing tariffs on the movement of goods between areas, with the pay or be robbed implicit threat. Informal systems solidify into tribute and infrastructure.
@martypartymusic Well, if he makes us interplanetary, gets us off our addiction to oil, enhances renewabale energy and storage, and stops data-centers on terra-firma pushing up electricity costs off stressed-out grids by putting them on space… that’s quite good really! All else is a distraction.
@JohnNosta A university should empower learners to follow their curiosity to understand how knowledge is constructed and mediated, so that they realise the power dependency of ‘facts’. A lot of the pedagogy on research based learning (messy, no fixed answers) explored many of these issues.
@EMostaque I am very much looking forward to read this over the festive season! Puzzling out the big shift ahead is going to be fascinating, terrifying, a massive opportunity and HOPEFULLY better opportunity for all thereafter once things settle.
@RaoulGMI It’s very difficult not to like virtually all the SightBringer posts, it’s so scarily aligned with my world(cosmos) view. I have never seen a feed quite like it so signed up to the sinner Circle right away. No knowledge at all of its origin, and somehow that’s liberating.
@_The_Prophet__@BarackObama While I find the term ‘civilisation’ covers a multitude of greatness and horrors; my individual response is to manifest a positive vision engage with others around me to take small positive steps to improve themselves and judge others less, & smile. Cups of tea also recommended.
@_The_Prophet__@BarackObama 1 seems more likely with rising despair & anger; but I also sense a parallel spiritual awakening & vibrational awareness, but also a reticence to talk about such things. It is your interface between surface reality and deeper discourse about reality which fascinates me most.
@_The_Prophet__@BarackObama I so wish this reading didn’t ring true. Are you giving up on humanity or just projecting a cathartic resolution through blood and fire? I would like to think humanity is capable of better.
@money_penny Chill. It mainly seems to be that the JavaScript behind many Dapps like browser extension has been hacked. Just don’t transact anything for a it until whatever you use has been checked or updated.
