Canada elected a PM that has zero skin in the game.
His investments are outside Canada. His wife lives outside Canada. His kids live outside Canada. He considers England home. He helped move Brookfield to the USA.
The Canadian dollar could $0.10 against the USD and it would mean nothing to him.
I'll never understand how Canadians vote against their best interests.
We cannot talk about a “trade war” without explaining why. Hurling insults at our neighbours down south is not an answer.
Canadians deserve answers, not a back-and-forth of “he said, she said” and “it’s not me, it’s him.”
@shuvmajumdar is seeking the facts and the truth. Good for him.
This is a great letter. There is no reason why Mr Carney can't release the draft agreement that he walked away from. The Americans know what is in it, the Canadian government knows what is in it, and the Canadian people deserve to know as well.
Curious Carney play: He frames US demands for alignment on tariffs with third countries (steel, aluminum, derivatives) and any language restricting Canada’s ability to cut independent trade deals as a novel “power play” that tramples sovereignty—something “Canadians wouldn’t accept” and that this government will never swallow
Yet Canada already accepted free-trade limitations in the CUSMA deal itself. Article 32.10 requires notification of any FTA talks with a “non-market” economy and gives the other parties the right to terminate CUSMA on six months’ notice if one goes ahead. That clause was inserted at U.S. insistence precisely to constrain Canada’s (and Mexico’s) freedom to deal with China and similar partners. Canada signed it (see reply)
Now the US is simply leveraging the same integrated-market logic and the same leverage point—alignment against non-market capacity, transshipment, forced labour—to extend the precedent. Carney’s rhetoric treats the idea of restricted trade autonomy as unprecedented when the precedent is sitting in the very agreement that still underpins most Canada-US commerce
Sovereignty talk is fine. Selective amnesia about what was already conceded is not @markjcarney
One of the most eloquent explanations of immigration you’ll ever hear.
Milton Friedman had an extraordinary ability to cut through the political bullshit and explain complicated issues with simple economic logic.
Still relevant today. 🎯
🇨🇦“THIS WAS A COVER-UP OF MAMMOTH PROPORTIONS.” — NOW CANADA IS BEING TOLD TO INVESTIGATE
Something is shifting in Canada.
Former federal cabinet minister Stockwell Day is demanding a FULL NATIONAL INQUIRY into what happened during the COVID era — and what he alleges was the suppression of doctors, evidence and public debate.
His words are extraordinary:
“THIS WAS A COVER-UP OF MAMMOTH PROPORTIONS AND IT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED.”
Think back to what happened.
Businesses were closed.
Children were kept out of classrooms.
Places of worship were shut.
Pastors were arrested.
People lost careers and livelihoods.
Doctors and healthcare professionals say they faced enormous pressure for challenging the prevailing narrative.
And now Day is asking the question that could become impossible for Canada's establishment to ignore:
WHAT DID THE AUTHORITIES KNOW — AND WHEN DID THEY KNOW IT?
He specifically challenges the role of Canada's former Chief Public Health Officer, Dr. Theresa Tam, and calls for answers over reported vaccine adverse effects and the treatment of medical professionals who tried to raise concerns.
This isn't about rewriting history.
It's about opening the books. Examining the evidence. Hearing from the people who say they were silenced. And establishing the truth.
If the decisions were justified, an inquiry should demonstrate that.
If mistakes were made, Canadians deserve to know.
And if evidence was deliberately suppressed?
Then accountability must follow.
The COVID years changed millions of lives.
Canada cannot simply turn the page and pretend none of it happened.
WATCH. SHARE. DEMAND ANSWERS. @Stockwell_Day
The copper market has CRACKED. Spot prices flared out into a MASSIVE backwardation of over $300 per tonne as stocks continue to be pulled off the LME. This is the largest spread since 2021, and we all remember what happened then…

Stockwell Day just dropped ANOTHER bombshell.
Prime Minister Carney specifically approved keeping a serial violent sexual assault rapist in Canada.
Not a citizen.
From Eritrea.
Tried to burn a church down.
Multiple sexual assaults.
13 to 15 court order breaches.
Assessed in the 99th percentile for reoffending.
Canada Border Services Agency begged the government to deport him.
The Liberal Minister said no.
Day’s point is clear: that Minister doesn’t make that call alone.
Carney signed off on it.
On the same day the Auditor General confirmed thousands of undocumented illegals who should already be gone.
Ottawa police report 150 more rapes this year.
And still the soft approach continues.
If the people running this country refuse to remove predators who aren’t even citizens…
they have no business governing it.

One of the most alarming financial statistics in British Columbia's finances is the interest cost.
BC's interest cost on its debt has doubled in just 4 years
2022: $1.896B
2026: $3.917B
So reckless.
About 30 years ago, Norway decided to create a wealth fund for their citizens rather than offer handouts to buy votes.
Norway pumps 2 million barrels a day. Canada pumps 4 million barrels a day.
Norway has $2.1 Trillion in a wealth fund.
Canada owes $1.47 Trillion in debt.

How to fix Canada in 4 easy steps right now.
1. Stop this ridiculous carbon tax. End it for good. We are paying just to be living here. It affects our groceries, fuel, pretty much everything.
2. Stop double dipping of taxes. Why should we pay tax on shit that’s already been taxed like 10 times before it lands in our hands?
3. Stop mass migration now! Our system can’t afford to run with this much people. Let’s take care of our own people first.
4. Stop sending billions to foreign nations who will never pay us back.
Canada’s real economy in one post
🇨🇦7.5M retirees
4.6M public-sector workers
~2M on social assistance
= 14 million living on the tax base
funded by 16.5 million private-sector workers.
Government jobs and transfers inflate GDP and generate “revenues,” but they do not create wealth.
They transfer it.
The private sector produces the surplus.
Everything else is a claim on that surplus.
Oh look…Operation Warp speed… the creation of a coronavirus vaccine…started 1 year ago before the pandemic.
It’s like our sciency…tists…predict the future.
That is so weird…good thing they waited one week after the collapse of the Trump-Russia gate hoax.
@Energy_Tidbits@StatCan_eng Are they going anywhere else, or is this a reflection of a poor/stagnating cdn economy with Canadians travelling less overall?
