Many of you know I’ve travelled to loads of countries for both work and pleasure, even writing a book about my adventures. Flying has always been an anxious part of these trips.
Last November, I flew to Bologna airport to speak in San Marino for the World Tourism Organisation's opening keynote speech. When being assisted from the aircraft back to my wheelchair, I almost fell to the floor and severely twisted my knee. This incident, which was preventable, took a lot of effort to be recognised and apologised for by the CEO of the airport.
This was the worst experience I’ve had when flying! Considering I’ve had my wheelchair damaged and sustained other minor injuries on flights over the years. After this incident, I joined the @RightsOnFlights team to address this decades-long challenge that I and many others have faced. You may have seen my posts with the team meeting key politicians and industry experts as we push for necessary changes. Everyone agrees that we should all fly with dignity and fairness, but the correct solutions are still not in place.
The absolute force of nature that is @sophmorgTV has created a brilliant documentary that airs on Monday at 9:00 p.m. on Channel 4. Please watch the documentary, understand the challenges all stakeholders face, and remember, fixing these issues will be better for them, all customers, and of course, disabled flyers.

@allwheelsup@rusperrich@ableMoveUK@flyingdisabled@sophmorgTV It is indeed at proposal stage and the EU legislative process is quite complex. But the fact that it’s black on white points to good news ahead (provided that lobbyists do not get in the way of inclusion in air travel)
Well, this is how our wheelchairs are handled - with no respect, with no care whatsoever that someone relies on this equipment and damage to it does mean ‘deprivation of independence’ 🥹 @ReducedMobility
Super article @Mel_ReidTimes Her first flight in 11 years reveals zero change for the disbled community. BUT, a revolution in accessible air travel is coming via #Air4All#RightsOnFlights Assisted Air Travel Act, there's light at the end of the 'RedEye'. https://t.co/70n1xCkVvX
@sophmorgTV takes #RightsOnFlights accessable air travel initiatives to @POTUS. The Assisted Air Travel Act & Air4All are in front of policy makers. Fairer, Safer Accessible Air Travel is coming ♿️✈️ That 'Special Relationship 🇺🇸🇬🇧 is alive and working..!! @ReducedMobility
@utd_70@flyingdisabled@sophmorgTV@EmiratesSupport@emirates That’s a clear cut breach. If you booked assistance and travel with a companion he/she must be assigned a seat near you free of charge. Do not cave in to their request, it’s unlawful.

Thank you @sophmorgTV for the incredible work you do campaigning for disability rights.
Harnessing the talents of everyone is good for our economy and Britain. Labour will close the disability pay gap, tackle inequalities, and put inclusion at the heart of all we do.
