Delighted to say that our paper identifying a novel role for protrudin in endosomal fission has been published:

Our first cohort of students on our MPhil course 'Molecular Mechanism of Human Disease' are settling in so it's time to open applications for next year! Deadline is 3rd December and you can find all the details here 👇
Out at @naturemethods just now!

We present #SN2N, a flagship level unsupervised denoising solution. It’s fully competitive with supervised learning without needing large training-set and clean ground-truth, using 1 noisy frame for training.

Excited to unveil our latest work:
Protrudin acts at ER-endosome contacts to promote KIF5-mediated endosomal fission and endosome-to-Golgi transport https://t.co/DbbdVwUalc
Hopefully this provides more insights into how protrudin influences polarised membrane traffic and functions in neurite extension & axonal regeneration (the latter shown by another ex-colleague @ves_petrova and current colleagues @BartNieuwenhu1s, @RichardEvaLab, James Fawcett)
The latest preprint from our lab. Congratulations to the first author @EdenJess and thank you to all our wonderful collaborators. @TheCIMR @CellBiol_MRCLMB @JLS_Lab
@ShaunLintern Ditch annual mandatory consultant appraisals, which are a bureaucratic waste of time. These could be streamlined and done a couple of times in the revalidation cycle for consultants about whom there are no concerns. Would save days of time per annum per consultant.
"Failure to recognize that cells are not independent replicates when testing for differences in means with t tests or ANOVA causes pseudoreplication, an extremely common and serious error that artificially decreases P values and can create false positive effects."
