@djhc2 @CarlBovisNature Is there a reflection visible to him? We have seen male blackbirds and red-legged partridges doing exactly the same thing, over and over. Apparently if they see themselves it looks like a very evenly matched male and the ‘fight’ can go on and on.

@higgledygarden Can you ask responders to indicate what part of the country they are in when replying? The wet west of Scotland is a very different environment to survive than the dry south east, for instance!
