For almost 20 years, she has worked alongside communities to appreciate their rich and unique biodiversity and repair their rangelands. The #floods in Somalia have led to unspeakable loss. Roads, bridges, homes, farms, water and sanitation infrastructure, have been extensively damaged. Our staff too, have been impacted, yet they remain stoic and brave, going where the need is greatest.

Just trekked 30 minutes from Qurdhurbay to the banks of the Doolow River. Here, the impacts of climate change and conflict are stark. Competition for aid is intense. Long-standing displaced families, vulnerable groups, and newcomers all vie for limited assistance. Many are forced to high ground, some cut off by the spreading #floodwaters. With support from @WFPSomalia we're working tirelessly to ensure aid reaches those in need without triggering conflict.

Our staff in Doolow district, situated in the Gedo region speaks of the devastation left by the #floods. Homes and farms are flooded. People are putting up with their neighbours, relatives. The floods have cut off supply routes, people have no food. Listen. #floods #ElNino

Today in Luuq we received a second boat from @WFPSomalia. This will boost our ongoing efforts together with partners on the ground, including local authorities, to rescue families still stranded as well as deliver emergency food &medical supplies to people cut off by flooding.

Thank you @WFP_UNHAS. With the heavy rains and flooding, access, particularly in the southern part of the country is increasingly difficult. With UN WFP Helicopter services, we've been able to move emergency supplies in districts like Luuq to help families affected by floods.
