It’s not surprising that people would associate heavy metal music with Satanism. Sometimes versions of heavy metal music can sound very dark and in the U.S. people often like to make assumptions about others views based off things as simple as music preferences. #REL2121S18

Evangelicals in the U.S. felt endangered at the time of the election and Trump vowed to work to make sure they are protected, so it’s not that surprising that he got so much support from them #REL2121S18

Overall I had a great experience learning about the vast history of religions in the US, several I didn’t even know existed before this class. If I had to change one thing it would only be covering more about the current situation surrounding religion in the US #REL2121S18

@hannahblevins00 This is most likely because there were still a large amount of people that didn’t agree with the Civil Rights movement and had more old fashioned mindsets. To this day many people still have sexist and homophobic mindsets. #REL2121S18

It’s funny that Malcolm X is referred to nowadays in a positive manner when he originally was considered a terrorist and national threat for most of his time in the U.S. #Rel2121S18

Instead of Christmas, Hanukkah or Kwanza, The Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster aka Pastafarians celebrate a holiday simply titled “Holiday”. Many odd things about this religion. #Rel2121S18
