This week, my wife and I made the very difficult decision to terminate the pregnancy due to Trisomy 21.
The choice was not made lightly. We really appreciate all of the personal stories that you guys shared with us, especially the unconditional support we received from fans with no matter what we decided.
I know some of you may be very disappointed to hear this news. We are devastated. This has been extremely traumatic for both of us, especially Ashley.
She underwent the procedure earlier this week and is on the mend. Thankfully, everything went smoothly, but emotionally we are drained.
Trisomy 21, also known as Down Syndrome, is caused by an extra chromosome. It is caused by an error in cell division, like a glitch. The odds of a baby having it is 1 in 1000.
When I first confronted this news, I was shocked but optimistic. If they’re a little slow intellectually, then we’ll make it work. I signed on to be a parent, come what may…but I just didn’t fully understand what Down Syndrome entailed.
Once we made it public, it became clear that MOST people don’t know what Down Syndrome entails (and no, it’s not the same as Autism):
50% of babies with DS have heart defects. 75% will have hearing challenges. Over 50% will have vision problems. Impaired immune function, developmental disabilities, learning disabilities, delayed physical development, poor muscle tone, structural issues with face, decreased lifespan, etc…Sadly, the list is long, feel free to look it up…Down Syndome isn’t a “blessing”, it is objectively shitty from a health perspective.
I didn’t realize just how rough it is for the child, let alone the family…more often than not, they would be fully dependent on others for the rest of their life.
The miscarriage risk is also close to 50%, which made matters worse…they may never see the light of day and it puts Ashley further at risk.
We spoke with doctors, friends, family and genetic counselors and learned that up to 90% of women terminate their pregnancy after learning the baby has Trisomy 21.
This was WAY higher than I expected, I thought it would be lower given that I hear so many say they kept or would keep the baby. I believe that’s because most terminations happen privately, it feels shameful. A lot of judgment being cast.
You never think you’d be in this type of situation until it happens to you and then things change.
To all of my fans who have weighed in on this topic who have Autism, Down Syndrome or any other conditions…we appreciate you. You matter a lot and we’re glad you’re here. I commend you and your families for having the strength and courage to push forward.
As for us, we made a difficult decision that we believe in the long-run will be beneficial for our family. Thankfully, we had a choice.
It will take a little time to move on, but we are excited to try again in the future and hopefully have a better outcome.
Love you guys & thank you for understanding. ❤️
A case of NWS may have been detected in South Texas. The sample is now at USDA's National Veterinary Services Laboratories (NVSL) in Ames, lowa for confirmatory testing. We will provide updates the moment results are available.
We have already activated personnel on the ground and are working with local partners.
What you can expect from us is transparency, candor, and most important — action.

Congress needs to support the administration’s actions.
The border is in a better place. Without congressional action, those gains are not permanent.
The SAVE Act, border security, and other key priorities remain pending. It’s time for Congress to make these reforms last.
NEW: DPS has made changes to the state’s commercial driver license (CDL) testing process. Effective today, all Texas CDL knowledge exams will be administered in English only.
This change aligns Texas’ testing procedures with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s (FMCSA) English language proficiency requirements and will help ensure that all newly licensed commercial drivers have the communication skills necessary to operate these vehicles safely on Texas roads.
More details about these changes here: https://t.co/glhzXCbzt4.
Better question:
Should Texas public schools be able to hire based upon merit and subject matter competency? (Hint: Certifications don’t equal competency)
It was revealed last week that more than half of Texas' public school districts received permission to keep employing uncertified teachers. Should teachers be required to hold a certification from the state in order to teach in government schools?
Last tweet on Platner, I hope he wins because: politically he has views I agree with and he seems to be someone who can win Maine voters. But it does seems bad there are now over 10 woman with explicit screenshot text messages on their phone from Platner. https://t.co/HUg5S0a1hV
Children want moral clarity more than adults realize.
They want heroes
They want meaning
They want examples worth admiring
Classical education understands this instinct instead of trying to suppress it.
Today we launched the Great American Cotton Plan — a bold 4-pillar strategy to strengthen and secure the future of American cotton.
1️⃣ Promote American-grown cotton over foreign synthetic fibers and plastics
2️⃣ Expand domestic production and support U.S. textile manufacturing
3️⃣ Open new export markets and boost global demand for U.S. cotton
4️⃣ Protect growers from pests, trade pressures, and economic risk
From new trade agreements to expanded support for textile mills and increased global demand, @USDA, @SBA, and @HHSgov are working together to restore America’s cotton strength and competitiveness. Under @POTUS, American agriculture is back!! 🇺🇸💪👖
White skin gives me and every white American immunity from the virus. But we spread it wherever we go—through our words, our actions, and our systems. We don’t have to be showing symptoms—like a white hood or a Confederate flag—to be contagious.
Despite coordinated efforts by groups on the left, ExxonMobil’s move to reincorporate in Texas is proof that the DEXIT bill (SB29) is working exactly as intended.
**No, Rep. Matt Schaefer voted against impeaching Ken Paxton.**
In the May 27, 2023 Texas House vote (HR 2377), he was one of 23 Republicans who voted no (121-23 overall). He cited concerns over the process, lack of witness access/sworn testimony, and insufficient evidence review. Multiple news outlets (KLTV, CBS19, Houston Chronicle) and vote records confirm this.
It is an honor to call Chip Roy my friend.
Chip is indispensable, and
a God-fearing patriot.
Thank you @chiproytx for your tireless service to the people of Texas!
When I ran for Congress 8 years ago – it was because I knew that God had given me more time on this earth after beating cancer to serve our nation and to make America freer and stronger.
Over four terms, I have unapologetically fought to do that – letting the Constitution and the principles of limited government it reflects be my guide.
I am proud of my record – imperfect of course – but rooted in my belief in God and in a nation that exists to preserve the rights of man against Marxism, Islamism, and the oppression of tyranny… even the ever-increasing tyranny of our own government at home.
I have fought hard and without fear – trying to follow the law and do things the right way. It matters that leaders stand up and say what needs to be said no matter the consequences – or we stand to lose it all in the pursuit of political expediency.
In my campaign for Attorney General of Texas, I wanted to fight for Texans as their lawyer on the critical fights of our day: that Texas is not free enough, not secure enough, not strong enough, not Godly enough – and too often… is being sold to the highest bidder.
I tried to run a campaign worthy of this great state in which my family has lived since 1853. I tried to be tough but honest. I tried to earn the support of the voters of Texas, not to buy it… and I tried to tell the people the truth, not lies.
I am proud of my campaign. And I am proud of and humbled by the support from so many Texans – volunteers, donors, colleagues, friends, family, and people from all walks of life. In the words of the Apostle Paul, “[we] fought the good fight, [we] finished the race, [we] kept the faith.”
it was not our time.
But this is all God’s time. And we are all just living within it.
We have a state and a nation to save.
Onward.
