@FLTDOC1@SalaryDr I think it’s eye opening for residents if they do a true “pre-tending” shift and realize how much us attendants do in the background. Some assume we are eating croissants and drinking lattes in some executive lounge on shift…
@techpriestbio@StequaviousB@SalaryDr I think if the profit motive is their driving factor, then they should indeed dive into tech, law, finance, etc. I want my residents to WANT to be there. The cost of med school is another issue entirely, which I agree is horrendously costly in the US.
@DrKristieLeong@SalaryDr I would have loved to make more money as a resident, who wouldn’t want that? But to play devils advocate, don’t most professions and skilled trades have a stepwise increase in pay? Isn’t there some sort of trade off between needing to be trained (as a resident) and fair pay?
@SalaryDr@BladeDoc Residents are practicing alongside attendings? As if they are practicing at the same level? And not needing training or supervision?
I’m a doctor who has seen people die from vaccine-preventable diseases. What parents need to hear right now is vaccines for measles, polio, hepatitis B and other childhood diseases are safe and effective and will not cause autism. Any statement to the contrary is wrong, irresponsible, and actively makes Americans sicker.
We need to understand the real causes of autism. Studies show there’s a genetic predisposition when a mom who’s pregnant is exposed to environmental toxins which can increase a child’s risk of autism. It’s deeply troubling that, according to HHS officials, they appeared to have canceled hundreds of millions in research on autism genetics. Redirecting attention to factors we definitely know DO NOT cause autism denies families the answers they deserve.
We had two children die and many more hospitalized nationally from measles this year. Louisiana is experiencing its worst whooping cough outbreak in 35 years. Families are getting sick and people are dying from vaccine-preventable deaths, and that tragedy needs to stop.
Does anyone know if there’s a US law that requires airlines to compensate expenses and inconvenience when their mechanical failures make you miss connections? @UnitedAirlines once again has me stranded waiting for a connection to Taipei… are their planes that dilapidated?
How good is the premier status match on @delta? I’ve been a loyal @united customer for my adult life, but apparently earning their #unitedpremier 1K status year after year doesn’t really garner loyalty toward their customers…
So @united screws up my flights due to mechanical issues they couldn’t fix, downgraded my ticket to put me on another flight 10 hours later, then has the gall to given open first class seats to other passengers? Are all US airlines this ridiculous?
@united If you had flight reductions, why didn’t you ensure your long haul wide body jets were up to snuff? The original 787-9 I had couldn’t fly safely and its replacement had another mechanical issue, delaying us further and causing me to miss my 14.5 hr connection!
5 Reasons Why Doctors Should Make a Lot of Money
1) They provide a valuable service
2) They spend a decade in training & start late
3) It is a high-stakes, stressful job
4) They have constant liability
5) They often have 6-figure school debt
Thank you for what you do💪
@WCInvestor People just know what they know and are comfortable with that. I have 2-3 very cold months/year and a 6 month range when it *could* snow. But my pay is 🤩 and nonstop flights abound to any tropical destination from O’Hare. Don’t entice Cali folk to take my cushy job!
Practicing medicine in California is bad for your finances. Housing prices are through the roof, the state income tax bill is outrageous, the cost of living is generally elevated, and physician pay tends to be lower than in many other areas.
It's a recipe for financial disaster.
