Re NVIDIA no longer making test chips on 18A.
IT WAS A GOVERNMENT PROGRAM to allow potential partners to build designs using PDKs. It was never a committment to anything longer term than a few tests. I've been telling investors and others for ages and still, no-one seemed to realise. See this slide at Intel's event.
The 18A/18AP split is something worth bringing up too. Intel announced 18AP was the external node in 2027 back at Foundry Direct Connect, but apparently a load of press missed it and STILL TO THIS DAY don't get it.
Combine the two and you get a cavalcade of bad assumptions and mountains out of molehills.
