For an American president with dealmaking ambitions, the North Korean troop deployment to Russia has made things more complicated. It links the European and Northeast Asian theatres in new ways.

How can we engage in dialogue with China and maintain conversations with Chinese scholars?

Last week, the Swedish National China Centre hosted a roundtable discussion featuring David Ownby, with comments from @MalinOud and @yangfulei.

Thank you for an insightful discussion!

My dear colleague @ChRodhe on main stage of #RigaConf2024 moderating the important conversation about ‘The new Global Order - 10 years hence’. No shortage of gloomy scenarios & challenges, but the question is how to leverage our collective agency to cope? @ResearchUI @SCEEUS_UI

[Jakob Hallgren @HallgrenJakob]

Fascinating panel at the #RigaConf2024 addressing if ‘neutrality is geopolitically obsolete?’ While that issue is settled in #Sweden a remaining question is whether some countries’, ‘multi-alignment’ is the new neutrality? @ResearchUI

Spoke with DN about Russian negotiation theatre vs genuine negotiations (spoiler: the latter = could *maybe* happen when Kremlin sees itself fail, the former = escalatory & dangerous).

War in Ukraine 🇺🇦 has aggravated ethnic tensions in Latvia 🇱🇻 - yet the party system may have been shocked into more of a bridge-building mode. This is the argument in a new report by Gustav Lundberg, published by the Europe Programme @ResearchUI ... https://t.co/xfxU9E6qJy
