Thank you for supporting Afghan students and for recognizing the importance of education.
However, education alone cannot solve every displacement situation.
In #Kyrgyzstan, 115 Afghan mandate refugees recognized by UNHCR have spent more than 25 years in legal limbo.
Many young people in our community have attended school, completed their education, and worked hard to build a future.
Yet education does not remove the legal barriers they face.
Kyrgyzstan does not recognize the status of UNHCR mandate refugees.
As a result, many remain without secure legal status, without a recognized legal right to remain, and without a clear pathway to long-term stability.
A young person can study for years, earn qualifications, and still face uncertainty about their future.
Education is essential, but education must be accompanied by protection, legal recognition, and durable solutions.
Otherwise, generations of refugees remain trapped between hope and uncertainty.
Refugee status is not meant to become a fate.
We respectfully hope that the international community will remember not only displaced students, but also long-forgotten refugee communities still waiting for a solution.
