WASHINGTON, June 10 (Reuters) - U.S. access to critical minerals from China remains difficult due to export controls and licensing delays, a U.S. business lobby said on Wednesday, with Beijing's restrictions driving three-quarters of impacted companies to search for new supplies.
On why the US and its allies must work together on critical minerals:
“We’ve got to do this together because we may not be able to compete on price, but we’ve got to compete on national security,” @RepBera tells the Atlantic Council’s Jenna Ben-Yehuda.

Is the US moving fast enough to reduce its dependence on Chinese critical minerals?
“We cannot move fast enough, but we can move faster—and we are,” Senator @ChrisCoons tells the Atlantic Council’s Jenna Ben-Yehuda at the Global Energy Forum.

America can’t rebuild critical supply chains with Fortune 500s alone. @SBAgov is looking to help small businesses scale production of critical minerals, battery components, pharmaceuticals, and other strategic goods—strengthening domestic manufacturing and reducing dependence on China.
U.S.-based battery manufacturers, led by @ClariosGlobal, responded to SBA’s Request for Information from market participants on where to take this initiative, currently in its incubation stage, as members of the @RespBattery Coalition submitted comments on the government's efforts to bring smaller companies into Washington’s reindustrialization efforts.

America and allied nations are rich in lithium and other battery materials.
But advanced battery manufacturing depends not on raw ore, but processed inputs. These stages are capital-intensive, technologically complex, have high barriers to entry, and are at risk of CCP actions.
Investing in domestic lithium production, like the Smackover Formation in south Arkansas, should be a national security priority.
I’m asking @DeptofWar how we can make domestic lithium production a priority investment. https://t.co/GABmY4SS0P
NEW: Senator Kyrsten Sinema makes the case that securing a supply of critical minerals is crucial to our national security.
And how permitting reform can help us get there.
