I think this is an objective and sober overview of Ethiopia’s efforts towards regional stability and its commitment to uphold international norms, as the ongoing aggression develops. I am obviously biased but I think Addis went above and beyond on every metric.

Congratulations my dear brother and friend Ahmed Shide Mohamed for being elected as the Speaker of House of People’s Representatives of Ethiopia.
As people who were on the margins of national politics for so long, the implications of this momentous political development is not lost on us.
The conscious decision to shift our political strategy from sulking on the periphery to claiming the center is bearing fruit, thanks to Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed’s support, understanding and vision.
Indeed, we are now becoming the mainstream in the national body politic and that bodes well for national cohesion and unity.
I spoke with my friend, Ethiopian Foreign Minister @GHessebon about the recent developments in Ethiopia.
We discussed the importance of Ethiopia’s unity and stability, and our shared interest in preserving peace and stability in the Horn of Africa.
Israel greatly values its longstanding close friendship with Ethiopia and looks forward to further strengthening the ties between our countries. 🇮🇱🤝🇪🇹
Melkam Addis Amet - መልካም አዲስ ዓመት for all celebrating Enkutatash on Sep 11. My prayers for the New Year are an end to all conflicts in Ethiopia with true national reconciliation, and for the start of a democratic transition in Eritrea. God bless both nations and people.
If Egypt insists on a hand in the management of the GERD, then logically Ethiopia might well ask, in the spirit of reciprocity, for a hand in the management of the Suez Canal.
Im sure Eritrean dictator Isais' officials are having fits over recent high-profile press conference in Addis given by Eritrean Blue Revolution Front leadership team. They speak truth, and as the bible says "the truth shall set you free"-hope for Eritrea!

The U.S. and China’s latest battleground: Ethiopia’s $12.5 billion, 110 million-passengers Bishoftu Int’l Airport. Source: @firstpost
Watch this video of my interview with Firstpost.
My take is optimistic: there’s room enough for everyone to participate despite the airport becoming a microcosm of a much larger geopolitical contest for influence.
Prime Minister Abiy has positioned Ethiopia in the middle without taking sides and is turning the competition between the two superpowers into an opportunity to benefit the country.
For the U.S., the stakes are high: Ethiopian Airlines, which owns the airport, has billions of dollars in Boeing jets on order, powered by American-made GE engines. That gives Washington a direct commercial incentive to deepen its involvement and it aligns with President Trump’s new policy of prioritizing “trade and investment instead of aid”, especially in African countries that are strategically important to the U.S.
China, meanwhile, won’t be ceding ground. Beijing can rightly highlight twenty-five years of infrastructure projects its done in Ethiopia and billions of dollars in FDI. The relationship is further reinforced by Ethiopia becoming a full member of BRICS, in 2024, the bloc China helped found. And, more recently, Ethiopia decided to join the New Development Bank (aka BRICS Bank) based in Shanghai.

🚨 Update
The fighting on the Sherarina Front marked TPLF’s full-scale attempt to capture Humera. TPLF deployed substantial forces to the area and dispatched its own media personnel to cover what it anticipated would be the capture of the town.
After a brief fighting around midday on August 1. The ENDF, supported by the Ethiopian Air Force, launched coordinated counteroffensive operations that repelled the TPLF offensive and regained control of the TPLF military camps along the Ethio–Sudan border. Additional TPLF reinforcements moving toward the front were intercepted before they could join the fighting, preventing them from reinforcing the offensive.
Shocked by the outcome on the front line, particularly after TPLF so called “Army 70” which TPLF had reportedly relied upon heavily was dismantled within hours of fighting, TPLF military commanders reportedly convened an emergency meeting on August 2, 2026, at the residence of General Fiseha Manjus to discuss regrouping their forces and, if necessary, deploying additional units.
The countermeasure operation concluded with the ENDF securing TPLF military camps, neutralising and capturing of many TPLF fighters, including commanders.
So Al Jazeera’s Addis Ababa bureau chief was born in Eritrea, , and fought for its “liberation” from Ethiopia. In his profile he calls it “my country.” Yet he’s now reporting ON Ethiopia? 🤔This isn’t journalism—this is a partisan operative wearing a press vest. 🚨🎭
The problem with Egypt’s diplomacy, such as it is, is it insists on bending history, science, engineering and geography over backwards to serve its mostly apocryphal claims of ‘historic rights’!
Ethiopian marathon champion Tigst Assefa returned to London seeking to retain her title and break her own women-only world record and expressed confidence in her training
Flying between African cities forces many travelers to transit outside the continent, through London, Paris or Dubai. But a $12.5 billion airport under construction in Ethiopia could help change that. https://t.co/JhvEkPkWGO
U.S. involvement is not necessary in every issue but the risk of renewed conflict between Ethiopia and Eritrea demands U.S. attention. Ethiopia is asking for discussions on a number of critical issues and such negotiations need high level support. War would be unimaginable!
Great meeting with Ethiopian State Minister of Foreign Affairs @SMHaderaAbera.
We view Ethiopia as a long-term strategic partner and we will further strengthen ties. We discussed mutual challenges in our regions.
I said that the Iranian regime butchers its own people that are protesting and struggling for their freedom.
We're strengthening the longstanding Israeli-Ethiopian friendship! 🇮🇱🇪🇹
Dear Ethiopians, when you start thinking about Asseb or engaging with Shabia, just look at the shoes in this picture. If a leader can’t even afford proper shoes for a diplomatic trip, do you really think we as Ethiopians should engage with any kind of discussion with them? ይመጥኑናል ግን? 😄 Just look at the picture and think of Asseb! 🤣
Africa has spoken with one voice at the 2025 UN Climate Change Conference (COP 30) in Belém, Brazil and the world has listened. Ethiopia extends its heartfelt gratitude to the African Group of Negotiators for their unanimous endorsement of Ethiopia’s bid to host COP 32 in Addis Ababa in 2027. We are grateful for the opportunity that the Conference of the Parties is giving us to spearhead the collective effort to tackle one of the most daunting challenges faced by humanity. We are honored to be entrusted by the global community with such an important responsibility. This recognition reflects confidence in Ethiopia’s leadership in climate action and its capacity to host major global events.
Ethiopia remains fully committed to delivering a robust and meaningful outcome and inclusive COP 32 that advances collective action against climate change. #Ethiopia has confirmed the outbreak that has infected at least 9 people in the south of the country is of #Marburg virus disease.
I commend Ethiopia’s @FMoHealth for its rapid and transparent response to the outbreak, and the work of the Ethiopia Public Health Institute and regional health authorities. This fast action demonstrates the seriousness of the country’s commitment to bringing the outbreak under control quickly.
@WHO, at country, regional and headquarters levels, is actively supporting Ethiopia to contain the outbreak and treat infected people, and supporting all efforts to address the potential of cross-border spread.
