Stomaching the stock:
1) If all of my Elon related holdings went to 0, it wouldn't make a difference in our lives.
2) From a SpaceX perspective, I know what the company is trying to accomplish and the goals are crazy big. Elon usually doesn't get stuff done on time, but he does get it done. SpaceX' moat is so big, it doesn't matter that Starship is late.
3) We bought most of the SpaceX a while ago, so our cost basis is around $20/share. $220 down to $115 is crazy to watch, but just noise for now. It will probably go below $100, maybe far below. Mr. Market thinks short term and doesn't like the big CapEx. But I think it's hugely positive. I'd much rather see a company invest in itself than issue a dividend. So the CapEx that is driving the share price down is a great signal for me!
I love index funds too and have put more money into them than anything else. I'm almost done with stocks and look forward to moving to VTI. Slowly, but surely!
@Strachota73@SCHDETF Life is great!
Regarding SpaceX, I bought the stock for what I believe the company will look like in 2035. Much of what we see between now and then is just noise.
One of the weird things about having ageing parents is getting a text that says, “Call me when you get the chance.” It’s a gamble on whether someone died or they can’t figure out the TV.
@GenXmillionaire I've given this away so many times. Millionaire Next Door too. I think that 0% of pages have been read. But maybe they will be. The student just isn't ready.
@FiSurgi Some friends work there and the demands are crazy. NOT an easy place to work at, but they all love it.
If I was smarter and younger, I'd be begging for a job there.
