Yesterday I posted about installing GrapheneOS on my Pixel. The post got a lot of attention and a lot of questions. I figured that, instead of DoomerTapes having to continuously say "Read my pinned post", I could help my fellow Neanderthals get past the FOMO and make the leap.

Step One: Go to @Doomertapes Guides Repository click on the DT’s GrapheneOS and read it.

Step Two: Acquire a Google Pixel device. GrapheneOS currently only supports Google Pixel devices. It has to be a device no earlier than a Pixel 5. However, that device is end of life so if you plan on using this as a daily driver you should find a 6 or newer. If you plan on using it as a dedicated offline ATAK device, the Pixel 5 should be fine. Also, if you want to attach the ATAK device to your chest rig, Juggernaut Case makes an awesome case and carrier mount for the Pixel 5.

*Note* You can completely bypass the need for a guide by simply going to @DigitlAnalogLLC and purchasing a pre-configured phone.

*Note* When looking for the device on eBay or wherever, make sure that the listing specifies that it is OEM Unlocked this is very important. If it isn’t OEM unlockable, you’ll end up having to return it. Verizon devices will not work. This is explained in the guide that you should have read.

Step Three: Before attempting to install GrapheneOS, connect the Pixel to your computer go to Windows update and click "check for updates". Now look for “advanced Options” and click it. From there, click “Optional Updates” then “Driver Updates”. You should see a check box for “LeMobile – Other hardware – Android Composite ADB Interface”. Check it and click “Download and Install”.

Step Four: Go to @GrapheneOS (https://t.co/vBjPWuWhsh) and click “Install GrapheneOS. I selected the link for the Web-based installer. Follow the process from the website. You’re done with installing GrapheneOS. It’s easy.

Step Five: Optional. Go back to @DoomerTapes Guides and click on the guide for “Digital Analog Phone” for information on how to set it up for maximum privacy.

That’s it. Congratulations on unplugging from the Matrix.
