Jesus Christ lived obscurely most of his life and never travelled far. He was maligned and rejected by many, though he had done no wrong. And yet, billions of people now follow his teaching and find in him the guiding light for their lives. I am one of them. - Queen Elizabeth II
@johnmilbank3 Doesn't this show the problem of a systematic that is not ultimately tethered by exegesis?
The Jesus of the Gospels certainly seems to be neither Pelagian nor a universalist.
The truly orthodox response would seem to be to trust Him here as elsewhere.
Well today on here I have seen global majority bishops described amongst other things as blasphemous, Pharisees, sinning, homophobic, uncaring about poverty or mission (the irony). It's fine to disagree with them but the depth of incomprehension of their position is worrying.
@BrendaW36187388 Yes, it is tricky - I put in a request to speak for my maiden speech in November, but instead of calling me the chair called someone who speaks in almost every debate - not sure how they get that balance right
Me giving my maiden speech at General Synod - I am laughing because I had just been introduced as "the man with the generous beard" #Synod#GeneralSynod
@maeemouk @synodnews Fully understand - I guess some members felt the amendment spoke for itself (it was very clear!) or that related points had been made previously - it was part of the reason I called for the counted vote on the amended motion, so concerns could at least be logged
