@Jason@DarioAmodei Honestly Anthropic is the new Adobe, great products but terrible company and as soon as someone else makes something as good I'm jumping ship, they just aren't going to be a reliable vendor going forward.
@scaling01 We will have to see how the markets react, the ban was instituted after the markets closed yesterday (which is very convenient ) if markets react badly monday morning this might get reversed
@benjamin_horne@scaling01 Well, we will have to see how the markets react, the ban was instituted after the markets closed yesterday (which is very convenient ) if markets react badly monday morning this might get reversed
@RPMRoofingATX@SenseReceptor that would cause inflation + if counties print money for to subsidize an american service, then US dollar would go up in value from all the demand which would make it even more expensive
@benjamin_horne No a lot of that is that annoying gemini short summary you get now when you google something. They are playing the stat maxing game at this point
@fedcbazyx@jagunanthi@KarolCodes Not really 1) if it's really useful, demand spikes and prices rise fast because of the lack of chips (2) fire enough workers and they stop buying things and the economy slows, selloff in the stock market (3) people just use the big models to train free open-source ones.
@benjamin_horne@Sherveen No need, honestly I genuinely wish you were wrong and still had VCs subsidizing my token costs, but unfortunately for my wallet you are right
@Sherveen@benjamin_horne I mean he is right the price of tokens for API users for Anthropic has been going up, to the point where even me personally i went from a heavy Claude user to GLM and Deepseek, even OpenAI when the task is hard enough
@neal_k_patel I really like your concept, a lot or the big models are super overkill for small tasks, if i want a model for document analysis, I don't need it to be able to write a dissertation on Shakespeare in Swedish or be able to create a cli in Rust from scratch
@mauerstrasse@ariaradnia You didn't hear about Pix in Brazil ? or QRIS in Indonesia ? Here in France I keep hearing about those successes and how the EU should emulate them.
@DavidClinchNews@tbpn@johncoogan@nikesharora More importantly if the training works then those 5% can leave and start their own businesses that help train the competition's models, then you don't have an edge anymore
