By the end of May 2023 YTD EV motor deployment had reached 5.7 million units. May alone accounted for 1.31 million units, a 13% increase from April. The motors split remains unchanged with PMSM still leading at 80%. Average vehicle power for May is consistent with April’s figures, but the general downward trend for this year continues.

So basically if this equation is over 50% this year, Tesla can qualify all vehicles in the model line for the $7,500 credit. Smart.

How is the Model 3 with LFP cells qualified for $7,500?

With this portion of the guidance Tesla can average the value-add of battery production across a whole model line or even plant!

So the value of US cell production for Model 3/S/X can balance the import of CATL packs!

If Tesla continues to import LFP packs as it has to now there is no value add for the calculation from a standard range sale.

But every US made battery has a big value add, additionally the higher value nickel chemistries will help here balance low cost LFP.
