The last words of Renee Good & Alex Pretti were:
"๐๐ก๐๐ญ'๐ฌ ๐๐ข๐ง๐, ๐๐ฎ๐๐. ๐'๐ฆ ๐ง๐จ๐ญ ๐ฆ๐๐ ๐๐ญ ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ."
"๐๐ซ๐ ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ ๐จ๐ค?"
This Administration and ICE do not care what you say or what your legal rights are.
#PrettiGood reason to protest!

Middle of the night news!
Louisiana abruptly canceled 2 of its 6 contracts with the private companies who provide Medicaid health care plans. It means the state will have to move 488k people to NEW Medicaid plans by the end of the year. #lalege

I just returned from two weeks in Japan, and I have to be honest, it really opened my eyes to how far behind the U.S. is falling in so many basic ways.
Some things that stood out:
- In two weeks across some of Japanโs most densely populated cities, I saw only two visibly homeless people.
- I saw one person who appeared to be struggling with addiction.
- High-speed rail made affordable, clean, efficient transportation the norm, not a fantasy.
- I never once felt unsafe letting my kids walk freely beside me in public.
- Despite having far fewer public trash cans, Japanโs streets had a fraction of the litter.
- The countryโs reduced income inequality was visible everywhere, from housing to public services.
I already know what some right-wing folks will say: โItโs because Japan has low immigrationโ or โItโs not run by Democrats.โ But those are lazy excuses and distractions from the real issues.
The truth? Weโve normalized dysfunction in the U.S., and we make excuses for it instead of demanding better.
@MaggieMayTB We're unfortunately stuck with the one we have for another couple hundred days...then hopefully some change (but someone who knows what they're doing running a city, not a football player ๐).
@TheMrNoLa@JayJaymorris3@FixNOLA I can understand wanting 2x weekly trash pickup for residential, but surely you understand why the French Quarter, with so many tourists, bars, restaurants, and hotels and limited trash space needs frequent trash service? Why should it be an either/or? Push for both!
Remember, y'all: this doesn't just work with large corporations and menu items, it works with the government, as well--make your voices heard, repeatedly and loudly, and everywhere (social media, emails, calls, town halls), until you see the changes you want! #resist#resistance
i donโt usually do this, and i didnโt run this by brian from legal (sorry brian). but i have something to say. not as mcdonaldโs but as the person behind the mcdonaldโs account.
i once posted, โsocial media managers donโt control the menu.โ as much as i hated admitting it at the time, itโs true. i even got a plaque made of it to put on my desk. i also donโt control the bitcoin price even though you think the McRib is responsible, but i digress.
yes, i could post about the Snack Wrap, tease you with tweets like โbring back ___โ (knowing exactly what youโd say), and even manifest for its return. but i couldnโt bring it back.
you know who could bring it back? YOU.
YOU commented under every post.
YOU made petitions.
YOU asked for it back in the DRIVE THRU!?
YOU tweeted every day for 100 days straight.
YOU rallied. you organized. and i saw it all.
thanks to you, the Snack Wrap will be back.
i cheered you on from behind the screen and made it my mission to never stop fighting for you. i made 486 decks on โreasons why to bring back the Snack Wrapโ (i counted). your endless comments, tweets, and posts were the fuel i needed to keep on going.
you created a movement. a movement so powerful that you finally won.
i know it's cheesy, but i love my job. it's a privilege to interact with you every day and a responsibility i cherish. you make me laugh (sometimes cry), but not today.
from the bottom of my heart, thank you. today, i woke up with an even greater feeling of gratitude and pride. because finally after 9 years, i get to announce the day the Snack Wrap returns. i know i posted 0x.14.2025 a few weeks ago but i wanted to see if they could come back even sooner. so i asked the boss and he said OKAY LETS DO IT?!?!!
Itโs the honor of my lifetime to finally sayโฆ
the Snack Wrap is back. because of YOU.
see you 07.10.2025.
This father went to his citizenship hearing expecting a handshake.
Instead, ICE shackled him, threw him into a van, and tore him away from his pregnant wife and four childrenโwithout even letting him say goodbye.
Kasper Eriksen arrived in Mississippi from Denmark in 2013, fully documented and determined to build a life here.
He started a family, became part of his community, and followed every rule. He was never accused, let alone convicted, of any crime.
But as best we understand, he's now imprisoned because of a single clerical mistake made years ago. In 2015, Kasper and his wife, Savannah, missed filing one form, among the hundreds required on the complicated path to citizenship.
Savannah had just suffered a stillbirth, losing their first child. In the painful days that followed, paperwork deadlines understandably slipped past unnoticed.
Now, over a month after his arrest, Kasper remains locked in a detention facility notorious for cruelty, neglect, and abuse.
Savannahโeight months pregnant, at high risk, and terrifiedโis desperately pleading for her husband's return.
She and their children have no idea when or if they'll ever see him again, and she doesn't know if he'll be present for her child's birth.
Every day brings another nightmare under the Trump administration.
The actions of our government are evil. There's simply no other way to describe it.
May God have mercy on us all for allowing this to happen.
@NOLAnews The hyperlinked "Mildred Martinez" goes to an article about Mildred Bernard Martinez (who started the school), not the new Pope's mother: Mildred Agnes Martinez Prevost.
