Congratulations to @Bryce13753272 and @AshtonWood70784 for being the first brother and sister to make 1st Team All District in the same season!!
Congratulations guys!!
I talked a dad who told me he spent $10k a year on travel baseball between tourneys, travel, and gear for his son. He got a partial scholarship to D-2 school. If he had put the $10k in a mutual fund each year, he would have had about $190,000. The scholarship was $5k a year.
I Came across an 11U travel game this weekend…
Players No prep. No structure.
Just throwing right out of the car.
Coaches on their cell phones.
But parents think it’s “elite development.”
This is what you’re paying for? Just Wild
College coach:
“I wish I called you about that player before we signed him. His travel coach didn’t mention the bad attitude, not being coachable, or teammates not liking him.”
If you skip the HS coach and only call the travel coach…
That recruiting mistake is on you.
Parents spend crazy money on national travel baseball, but that’s not what earns a college scholarship. Scholarships come from development, consistency, and performing when it matters, not from how far you travel. Lots of people wasting money.
I just saw a survey where 17% of youth parents think their kid is going to play professional sports. People have no clue how hard it is to play professional sports!
I’m hearing a lot of coaches/parents complaining about the insane amount of money they have spent to go to Georgia only to realize they did not see value in it on the back end - other than the “experience”
Break it down $ wise:
Probably costs a family of 2 from the Northeast let’s say $3,500 for the week in hotels, flights, rental cars. meals etc
Probably 20 players per roster X $3,500 per player - that’s approximately $70,000 in revenue spent to possibly see 5-15 coaches at your games if you were “off site”…
If anyone wants me to explain how much more they can get out of that same $70,000 - and guarantee they get seen by a maximum amount of coaches I am willing to help them.
Wasted money is worse than wasted talent
HS players will be in a better position if they use their financial resources better
Fiscal responsibility when it comes to travel baseball is a real void in the space. With the advent of the transfer portal - there needs to be changes made
