All the variables are lining up for a possible hurricane in Southern California over Labor Day weekend. The only known hurricane-strength event in Southern California’s history happened off of San Diego in 1858.
A tropical storm with the potential to become a hurricane is expected to move toward Southern California later this week.

The new mail-in ballot procedure isn’t something to be afraid of. It works like this:
1. The state provides a list of the ballots they intend to mail out.
2. USPS assigns a unique barcode to each.
3. When the ballot is mailed out, this barcode is scanned to ensure uniqueness and that it matches. If there is no match or it’s a duplicate, it is not delivered.
4. When the voter mails the ballot back, the USPS scans it again and checks to make sure it matches what went out and isn’t a duplicate. Any ballots that don’t match won’t be delivered.
5. This is all done on the exterior envelope. The USPS isn’t determining eligibility or deciding who gets a ballot. They can’t see the actual votes. They are essentially just ensuring there are no duplicates, that the number mailed in isn’t greater than the number mailed out, and that the person mailing one in was the same person who received them.
This is a common sense solution and is completely reasonable.
Why would anyone oppose it unless their intention is to cheat?
Monday August 24, 2026, 1:40 PM: Latest EU1 and 0Z show an uptick in eastern Pacific hurricane activity September 2 - 9, 2026 as an area low-latitude strong low-pressure axis off the coast of Central and Northern California and a tropical system moving northward trajectory from Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. potentially bring moisture in the desert southwest and Southern California is still up for grabs. More details are still being looked at this upcoming week and early next week for more updates to come.
Again as I said before multiple times during this summer 2026. The best time for tropical activity in tandem with a strong monsoonal easterly wave is late August to early October is the best time to see the atmospheric alignment come into play with a strong El Nino. Remember the peak of hurricane season from August 26 through September 15, 2026.

America finally makes the hard part.
For twenty years the deal was that we design the product and China makes the chemistry inside it. A car could be assembled in Texas, with cells built in Texas, and still be strategically Chinese, because the powder inside those cells crossed the Pacific. In 2025 Beijing even added cathode production technology to its export control list. Governments don't restrict the export of things that don't matter. China looked at its cathode position and decided it was leverage worth protecting.
Tesla built it anyway.
And they didn't copy the Chinese process. They leapfrogged it. Conventional cathode lines need solvent slurries, football-field drying ovens, and a solvent recovery plant. Tesla's dry coating deletes all three. The material fought back for years, cracking and delaminating under compression, and Tesla only confirmed fully dry production of both electrodes in January 2026. Seven years after buying Maxwell for the technology, it works at scale.

The 1982/1983 El Niño stands among the most memorable and influential El Niño winters in California’s historical record. Southern, Central, and Northern California experienced weeks of torrential rainfall, widespread flooding, and numerous severe weather events.

Rainfall amounts: 31.25 inches of rainfall in Downtown L.A.
1991–1992 : Strong El Niño Rainfall amounts: 27.36 inches for Downtown L.A
1997–1998 : Super El Niño rainfall for Downtown L.A: 31.01 inches

The USPS Published its Mail-In-Ballot Rules For the Midterm Elections...This is HUGE.
The USPS just published a new rule implementing Trump’s executive order on mail-in ballots.
States that want the Postal Service to handle their mail-in or absentee ballots must now:
-Turn over a list of every voter getting a ballot
-Put unique serialized barcodes on both the outgoing and return envelopes
If a state refuses USPS will not deliver those ballots.
A judge appointed by Obama has temporarily blocked the rule from starting. They published it anyway so it can go live the second the courts lift that block for the Midterms
Friday, August 21, 2026, 8:45 PM: I have been looking into archives of past El Nino events since the 1950s in the last few weeks. Now I'm here to present my research, which indicates that the El Niño events of 1982/1983 and 1997/1998 in Los Angeles brought approximately 29 to 31 inches of rainfall annually. Most of the rainfall observed in my research occurred between November and March, which is quite intriguing.
The upcoming El Niño event is projected to be more intense than both of these previous events. Does this mean that we can expect more than 31 inches of rain, surpassing the levels seen in 2004/2005 when Los Angeles received 37.25 inches of rain? That year was not even a strong El Nino year just was perfect atmospheric alignment between the Hawaiian Islands and California with a very powerful Pineapple Express on January 7 - 10, 2005 drove flooding rains into Southern California.
These are the uncertainties that I am currently investigating. I am closely monitoring the upcoming tropics to determine what September 2026 has in store for Southern California. Will this year beat the odds of precipitation thresholds during both El Niño years?
Historical data suggests that there was a decent amount of precipitation in September due to a tropical teleconnection in tandem with the robust monsoonal axis indicating a higher confidence that moisture will come into our region in the next few weeks. Even looking at articles back to the 1950s during strong El Nino years have had small to moderate amounts of rain have been recorded in Los Angeles, California.
The only two exceptions were September 15, 2015, when 2.39 inches fell in a single day making it the wettest September day since September 25, 1939, where at tropical storm brought 5.62 inches of rainfall in less than 24 hours. Both of these same extract atmospheric setup.
The main reason was a very rare deep low-pressure axis off of central and northern California and a tropical system Linda that was moving northward axis tele connection of that moisture got pulled into the Los Angeles area, bringing lots of flooding and severe thunderstorms to Los Angeles County on September 15, 2015. Then, the same setup on September 25, 1939, was when a tropical storm made its way up to Long Beach and Los Angeles, California.
Other than that, you have to go all the way back to 1883/1884 a whopping 38.18 inches of rainfall fell that year. February and March were the wettest both with more than a foot of rain 13.37 inches of rainfall in February of that year. March 1884 12.36 inches of rainfall now that is a lot of water. #CAwx #ElNino #LosAngeles
