Jesus, the Living One, is with us, forever. Let the Church and the world rejoice, for today our hopes no longer come up against the wall of death, for the Lord has built us a bridge to life.
May we allow ourselves to experience amazement at the joyful proclamation of Easter, at the light that illumines the darkness and the gloom in which, all too often, our world finds itself enveloped.
Check out @SGSGAshtead social media posts each day to find the cross as it moves around the parish during Holy Week. Come & journey together each day. Events & gatherings listed on QR code on the cross & church website. #Easter2023@CofE_Worship@CofEGuildford#HolyWeek2023
A wonderful lecture tonight @StPaulsLondon by Professor John Barton on the history of the Bible. I loved the idea at the heart of it: if we believe God wanted us to have a Bible, this is the Bible God wanted us to have in all its diversity.
It’s Christmas, I’m allowed to say stuff like this: If the God of the universe thought you were worth coming to Earth for, you must really matter. However Christmas feels for you this year, don’t forget that in the eyes of the almighty you are literally to die for.Happy Christmas
The essence and meaning of Advent in a nutshell:
"In accordance with his promise, we wait for new heavens and a new earth, where righteousness is at home. Therefore, beloved, while you are waiting for these things, strive to be found by him at peace, without spot or blemish."
Absolutely love this from the brilliant @BukayoSaka87. Reading his Bible everyday at the World Cup, keeping his eyes fixed on the Lord & maintaining the most amazing perspective under such pressure to perform on a football pitch
