@martinezfjulian I have a few of his novels waiting for me to read. It’s plain awful that I haven’t gotten to him yet. Do you recommend one or two to start with?
A get-together last night of William Gass scholars in St. Louis to catch up and collaborate on various projects - came home with the newest edition of The Tunnel and The Tunnel Reader - sweet
@VinceClassic I wonder if I fit that description. My fav is Absalom. Others in top 5 include Ulysses and TS&TFURY. I’m 50 pages into F Wake, so that may make the list (eventually…). Ha!
@QuibbleTheBrave@jgmahoney I’d ask re: my hometown/state. TS Eliot born and raised in STL. I’d add Tennessee W, maybe Twain. The other famous ones I’m not a fan of: Franzen, WS Burroughs, Maya A.
@bonchieredstate After Biden successfully read the teleprompter at a SOTU, JVL was euphoric at how great he was. (And I’m a Dem. I voted for Biden but I knew he was not 100% capable.)
@luke_tagle@SarahLongwell25 And for such “never Trumpers,” during ‘23-‘24 primaries all they did was mock DeSantis and Haley…Trump’s only challengers. They aren’t serious commentators.
@luke_tagle@SarahLongwell25 I dug the podcast initially. Republicans calling out bad people in their party. But I never heard Sykes, Miller, etc. ever state the conservative positions they held. (And I’m a liberal so no skin off my back.)
