WTF
AI companies are purchasing large quantities of used and rare books. Scanning their contents to train models. Then turning the originals to pulp.
The sum of human thought, digitized and shredded.
Every book that gets scanned disappears from the physical world permanently. The knowledge survives only as training data inside a system no one can hold, browse, or resell.
What used to sit on a shelf for centuries now exists as weights in a model that might get deprecated next quarter.

@robindchnt Yes! Been thinking about this, looking forward to reading more about it. IMO, atleast in the US, the problem is also the lack of PoC in management & exec roles. Don't even get me started on innovation and industry 4.0..
@robindchnt Not sexy, but I think associations can work. In the electronics industry, @SMTAorg does a pretty good job at connecting people in the electronics industry
@deenashakir I've struggled with this. I've felt calling them "uncle/auntie" has made them view me as a child/someone that needs to be told what to do. I think it's worse for women, because there's this weird cultural view that we need help or need to be protected, so not seen as equals
@kushaanshah Omgg if I knew you could call up just gujjus, I should have volunteered to do some phone banking. It must have been frustrating so times, but hilarious
Excited for day 1 of #MLCRethink. I'm already impressed with the organization and tools, so user friendly! Looking forward to 3 days of discussions about #industy40@MfgExecutive@ShopFloorNAM
#smtai2020's Women's Leadership Program started with a bang with Lenora Clark talking about #auto safety systems #electronics. Always fun to learn more about #materials. Super interesting!
