This tragedy demands a transparent investigation, accountability based on its findings, and an urgent review of fire and emergency safety in neonatal and maternity wards across public hospitals.
My deepest sympathies are with the grieving parents and families facing an unimaginable loss.

In #KP, many girls are still being married before the age of 18, exposing​ them to numerous risks. Child marriage robs girls of their autonomy,​ undermines their decision-making power, negatively affects the economy,​ and threatens their health. It is imperative that we work together, to put an​end to child marriage and protect adolescent girls.​
Recognizing the urgent need to empower girls and end child marriage, @UNFPAPakistan and GDP, under the Aawaz II Programme funded by @FCDOGovUK , are working to provide adolescent girls with the support, skills, and opportunities they need to reach their full potential. By strengthening capacities, creating enabling environments, and promoting social awareness, the programme seeks to challenge harmful norms, prevent child marriage, and protect the rights and futures of adolescent girls so that they can contribute meaningfully to the society and the economy.​
Ending child marriage and securing the future of adolescent girls demands collective action. Laws alone are not enough. As a society, we must work together to address legal disparities, strengthen implementation, shift behaviours, and support initiatives that empower girls with education, skills, and opportunities. Only through shared responsibility can we protect every
adolescent girl and enable her to shape her own future.​

The session also highlighted how civil society can effectively collaborate with these mechanisms to document violations, provide expert input, and advocate for actions that uphold international human rights standards.
