Romario es el nueve más letal de todos. Su definición es para poner en las escuelas: no daba ninguna opción al portero en el 1 vs 1. O lo regateaba, o se la picaba, o lo que le diera la gana, pero el balón siempre en el fondo de las mallas.

Ya sabemos qué le limitó: su vida (y su carácter; cosas de genios) y que el fútbol empezó a entrar sistemas muy tácticos y contraofensivos, con duros marcajes y más exigencia física.

Si Romario nace 40 años antes, habría sido ilegal.. Con tácticas más laxas y en general, un ritmo asequible pa su carrera.

I'm still on his boat and hope he stays solid. Araújo has given us a lot for how little love he gets. During Xavi's league year with that famous 'BACK' he hit a peak where he was the most in-form centre-back in the world.

Shame he doesn't improve on the pass, but we're playing without a proper pivot, without a pure 5… basically since Busquets left.
And when Puyol used to get a bit messy with the pass (they both share that same limitation that doesn't fully fit the attacking style), THE PIVOT would just drop and drive the ball up. Araújo would survive Flick's system with a Busquets or a.... Rodri 🥲

And yeah, even though FDJ has done well as a 5, he's not one. He's converted, and he doesn't have it in his DNA how to position himself on the pitch.
